Sanya Malhotra Buys £1m Luxury Home

“I used to stay in a one-bedroom apartment"

Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra has bought a Rs. 14.3 Crore (£1.4 million) luxury home for herself.

Her new apartment is located in the Bay View building in the upscale Andheri West neighbourhood of Mumbai.

Malhotra bought it along with her father Sunil Kumar Malhotra from property developer Samir Bhojwani.

Documents have disclosed that the actress paid Rs. 71.5 Lakh (£71,000) in stamp duty during the purchase.

She has now become neighbours with Hrithik Roshan who has two apartments within the same building.

They are 38,000 square feet in size, with a 6,500 square foot ‘open-to-the-sky terrace’ and come with access to 10 car parking spaces in the building.

Roshan spent Rs. 67.5 Crore (£6.7 million) on the apartments, a duplex on the 14th and 15th floor and then the other on the 16th floor.

Malhotra, who is from Delhi, had also bought a flat in Mumbai in 2018 and previously said during an interview:

“This city became my home.

“It’s safe, it calms me down and it fills me with a strange kind of independence.

“My family lives in Delhi and they visit often, but in the five years that I have been in Mumbai, this city has given me everything.”

She added: “I used to stay in a one-bedroom apartment before I bought this place and the sole purpose of moving into a bigger house was to have my family come over from Delhi and stay comfortably with me whenever they want to.

“At first, I was sceptical about it, considering the finances, but my father convinced me that I should invest in my own house rather than renting out a place.

“I want to spend as much time as I can with my parents.

“And now that I own a bigger space, I can literally steal my mother and keep her with me for months.”

Sanya Malhotra made her debut with the role of Babita Kumari in the biographical sports movie Dangal (2016) starring Aamir Khan.

It became a record-breaking commercial success despite having a relatively low budget of £7 million.

The actress has since appeared in leading roles in a number of movies including Ludo (2020) and Pagglait (2021)

Most recently she has been in Netflix original Meenakshi Sundareshwar (2021) which was released on Friday, November 5, 2021.

Produced by Karan Johar, the rom-com follows a newlywed couple who are forced to live apart due to a unique job prospect.

Abhimanyu Dassani and Shiv Kumar Subramaniam also star in the movie.
