Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt has beaten cancer and shared the happy news with his fans on social media.
After experiencing breathless in August 2020, Sanjay Dutt was rushed to hospital where he was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Initially, it was thought the actor may have caught Covid-19, however, following tests which came out negative this possibility was ruled out.
The 61-year-old actor was undergoing chemotherapy to treat his lung cancer.
In October 2020, pictures of Sanjay Dutt circulated online showing the actor’s dramatic weight loss.
Many of his fans expressed their concern. Despite the actor’s battle with cancer, it was reported he continued filming for Sadak 2 (2020).
On Wednesday, 21 October 2020, Sanjay Dutt took to Twitter to reveal that he has emerged “victorious” in his battle against lung cancer. He captioned his post:
“My heart is filled with gratitude as I share this news with all of you today. Thank you.”
Sanjay shared a heartfelt message stating the last few months have been a difficult time for his family. He wrote:
“The last few weeks were very difficult time for my family and me. But like they say, God gives the hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.
“And today, on the occasion of my kids’ birthday, I am happy to come out victorious from this battle and be able to give them the best gift I can – the health and well-being of our family.”
He continued to acknowledge the support he received from his fans. Sanjay Dutt added:
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering faith and support from all of you.”
“I am eternally grateful to my family, friends and all the fans who have stood by me and been my source of strength through this trying time.
“Thank you for the love, kindness and the countless blessings that you have sent my way.”
Sanjay Dutt went on to thank the medical team at Kokilaben Hospital for their support during his treatment. He said:
“I am especially grateful to Dr. Sewanti and her team of doctors, nurses and the medical staff at Kokilaben Hospital who have taken such good care of me in the last few weeks. Humbled and grateful.”
