Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has been diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer after complaining of chest discomfort and breathlessness.
Recently, the actor was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on Saturday, 8 August 2020 and was rushed to the intensive care unit.
Dutt promptly underwent a rapid antigen test for Covid-19 followed by an RT-PCR test, both of which came back negative.
The 61-year-old actor also took to Twitter to share the news with his fans. He wrote:
“Just wanted to assure everyone that I’m doing well. I’m currently under medical observation & my COVID-19 report is negative.
“With the help & care of the doctors, nurses & staff at Lilavati hospital, I should be home in a day or two. Thank you for your well wishes & blessings.”

Later, it was reported that Dutt had developed fluid in his chest. A source from the hospital said:
“When he was taken to the hospital, he was low on oxygen saturation. But when his Covid-19 report came negative, we ran cancer analysis and it came positive.”
On Tuesday, 11 August 2020, Sanjay Dutt took to Instagram to make an announcement. He said:
“Hi friends, I am taking a short break from work for some medical treatment.
“My family and friends are with me and I urge my well wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate.
“With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon!”

Sanjay Dutt will be flying to the US for immediate medical attention and treatment.
The actor’s wife Maanayata Dutt also released a statement. It read:
“I thank everyone who has expressed their well wishes for Sanju’s speedy recovery. We need all the strength and prayers to overcome this phase.
“There is a lot that the family has gone through in the past years but I am confident, this too shall pass.
“However, it is my heartfelt request to Sanju’s fans to not fall prey to speculations and unwarranted rumours, but to just help us with their ongoing love, warmth and support.
“Sanju has always been a fighter and so has our family. God has yet again chosen to test us to overcome the challenges ahead.
“All we seek is your prayers and blessings and we know we will emerge as winners on the other side, as we always have.
“Let us see this opportunity to spread light and positivity.”
Fans and stars alike have been sending well wishes for Sanjay Dutt. Actor Adhyayan Suman tweeted:

Actress Urmila Matondkar shared a picture of herself with Sanjay Dutt. She captioned it:
“Such an upsetting n horrible news that @duttsanjay has been diagnosed of cancer .. but then again he has been a fighter all this life … here is wishing him a speedy recovery.”

Dutt’s doctor Jalil Parkar refused to comment on his patient’s condition stating it would be a breach of confidentiality.
