"It has to make sense to the script"
Actress Sanaya Irani is set to make her Bollywood debut in Ghost (2020) alongside Shivam Bhaargava.
Sanaya is a popular face in Indian drama series. One of her most memorable roles was as Khushi in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon (2011-2012) with Barun Sobti.
The actress has taken a break from Indian dramas and has instead featured in short films and web series.
Despite this not being the first time Sanaya will appear on the big screen, this will be her first on-screen kiss.
According to an interview with Spotboye, Sanaya candidly spoke about kissing on-screen. She said:
“Yes, it was my first time and I think something like kissing is so normal and natural between two people. That being said, I know every actor says this that it has to make sense to the script.
“But, it really does. See, our film is a horror film. There’s not so much time to spend on a love story.
“And, if you need to show that two people are getting together, and how much they feel for each other, you need a little more than them just standing away from each other.
“So, when you see it, it just organically happens.”
Sanaya Irani continued to acknowledge discussing the matter with husband Mohit Sehgal. She explained how:
“There is no hypocrisy in a relationship if one person can do it, the other can.”
Ghost follows the story of Karan Khanna (Shivam Bhaargava), a politician residing in the UK. He is accused of killing his wife and tells his lawyer (Sanaya) that his wife was murdered by a spirit.
Commenting on shooting most of the film in London, Sanaya said:
“The weather in London was extremely cold which made it difficult to shoot. We were not expecting to have a lot of cold days but the climate can be unpredictable.”
“Not many scenes were outdoor but whenever we shot outside it was quite challenging to deal with the weather. We shot at subzero temperatures but in the end, we got all the scenes which were required.”
Ghost is set to release on October 18, 2019. We wish Sanaya and all the team the very best of luck.
