Indian actress Sameera Reddy has opened up about the “crazy things” she used to do to try and fit into the Bollywood industry.

Although the actress has been away from the big screen for quite some time, she regularly interacts with her fans on social media.

Recently, Sameera revealed that she received a message on Instagram from a mum who was struggling with her post-baby body. She said:

“I got a DM from a mum of a one-year-old on Instagram. She wrote that she doesn’t feel beautiful and she said she feels really fat and ugly.

“Oh my God! These are the words that I fight. I fight against them. I try my best to be fearless and show you exactly how it is.”

Sameera Reddy is a proud mother to two children – Hans Varde and Nyra.

She went on to recall the “crazy things” she did to fit in with the perceived norms of Bollywood. She explained:

“Then I went into the industry where I was compared to everybody. I tried to lighten my skin, I used to do crazy things like [use] coloured lenses because I wanted that fair, light-eyed look.

“I used pads on every part of my body which I felt was not keeping up with the norms.

“I didn’t everything that made me feel more crap about myself. That’s why today I work harder to fight against any kind of shaming.”

In 2014, Sameera wed businessman Akshai. The couple welcomed their first-born Hans Varde in 2015 and their daughter Nyra in 2019.

According to an interview with IANS, Sameera Reddy opened up about being a new mother during the coronavirus lockdown. She said:

“Every time I look at my baby girl, I feel a sense of joy and optimism.”

“There are so many stories that I will be telling her about the unconditional love and efforts that doctors, nurses, police forces and the community at large are putting in to ensure our safety and protection.

Sameera Reddy further added:

“I understand what it takes to be a new mother, especially during this time.

“I have always championed that we mothers are imperfectly perfect – the ups and downs, constant worry, disconnection, these feelings are normal and I am confident that we will come out stronger.”

Sameera Reddy now refuses to feel dejected with her body and appearance. It appears the actress has found self-confidence and is helping others with the same.
