“They’ve tried so hard but they just can’t make it work.”
Ronnie O’Sullivan has reportedly split from his fiancee Laila Rouass.
The snooker legend, who has scored a record 15 maximum 147 breaks during his career, has apparently broken up with Laila after 147 months together.
They began dating in 2012, with the actress often cheering O’Sullivan on.
But according to The Sun, the pair have now split, with O’Sullivan’s busy snooker schedule said to be one factor.
A friend claimed: “They have been going in different directions.”
In August 2024, Laila appeared on ITV’s This Morning but was not wearing her diamond engagement ring.
She and the snooker star have been engaged since 2013.
The couple separated in 2022 before reconciling.
The friend continued: “Ronnie and Laila really threw themselves back into their relationship after the split a couple of years ago.
“He kept posting pics of them online at home together and saying romantic things on special occasions, but that’s all come to a halt.
“They’ve tried so hard but they just can’t make it work.”
Ronnie O’Sullivan has barely seen Laila as he has been playing in lucrative competitions abroad.
The friend went on: “Ronnie has spent months and months on the road this year doing snooker tours for big money in China and Saudi Arabia while Laila has been concentrating on her acting career.
“There is a lot of love between them but they have been going in different directions and conceded it is over.
“Ronnie and Laila make a lovely couple so the people who know them best are hoping this is a blip like back in 2022.”
Amid the reports, Laila posted on social media.
However, it had nothing to do with the breakup rumours. Instead, she shared a video of the first-ever Palestinian ambassador to Spain being sworn in by the Spanish King on her Instagram Story.
Laila was recently seen in EastEnders as Ayesha Siddhu.
The breakup rumours come days after Ronnie O’Sullivan exited the English Open, having been defeated 4-2 by He Guoqiang.
And O’Sullivan, who played left-handed during the showdown, said afterwards:
“I’m absolutely useless, that’s why [I’m not playing with my right].
“Forget about the Worlds. I’m not even bothered to be honest with you, if I’m going to play rubbish I might as well play left-handed.
“Play left-handed and enjoy it, but be useless, or play right-handed, be useless and not enjoy it.
“I haven’t got long, I’m not going to deny it, I’m not playing well enough, there’s no point in even worrying about it – I’ve just accepted it now which is quite a nice place to be really.”
