"Is this the system we live in?”
Actress Rhea Chakraborty, who is considered a suspect in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, has filed a case against the media for gathering outside her residence.
The actress has been in the spotlight concerning her alleged involvement in Sushant’s death case. She has been accused of reportedly supplying drugs to the late actor as well as money laundering.
According to a Mumbai Police official’s statement to ANI, Rhea requested the police to ensure her way was not obstructed by the media. She also asked for her constitutional rights to be kept in mind.
On Thursday, 27 August 2020, Rhea Chakraborty shared a video of her father, Indrajit Chakraborty getting mobbed right outside their home. She captioned it:
“This is inside my building compound, The man in this video is my father Indrajit Chakraborty (retd. army officer).
“We have been trying to get out of our house to cooperate with ED, CBI and various investigation authorities to cooperate.
“There is a threat to my life and my family’s life. We have informed the local police station and even gone there, no help provided.
“We have informed the investigation authorities to help us get to them, no help arrived. How is this family going to live?
“We are only asking for assistance, to cooperate with the various agencies that have asked us.
“I request @mumbaipolice to please provide protection so that we can cooperate with these investigation agencies. #safetyformyfamily.
“In covid times, these basic law and order restrictions need to be provided. Thank you.”

Rhea Chakraborty shared another video on Instagram in which her building’s security guard explained how he was attacked by the media. She wrote:
“Ram is my buildings watchman for the last 10 years, He is hurt, he was hit by #media. Media people have entered my building compound and hurt the security guards and my father.
“Is this not a crime? Who is responsible for this? Is there any law at all? Are we barbarians? #justiceforram.”
“Will the concerned authorities kindly take notice, there are children and elders living in this building too. Or is this the system we live in?”
However, she later took down the video. Rhea also asked the Mumbai Police for protection for herself and her family.
Rhea Chakraborty has been questioned by the CBI at their DRDO guest house in suburban Kalina along with her brother, Showik Chakraborty.
She was also accused of abetment to suicide by Sushant’s father, KK Singh.
A police official revealed that when the actress left for her residence in the evening, she was unable to enter due to the presence of media outside.
