“It’s new for us, so let it cook a bit.”
Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed that he is dating none other than award-winning actress Alia Bhatt.
The 35-year-old star revealed the romance in an interview with GQ India where he admitted their relationship is still in its early stages.
The actor told GQ:
“It’s really new right now, and I don’t want to over speak. It needs time to breathe and it needs space.”
Despite his desire to keep quiet, Ranbir couldn’t help but gush over the 25-year-old star:
“As an actor, as a person, Alia is – what’s the right word? – flowing right now. When I see her work, when I see her act, even in life, what she gives is something that I’m aspiring to for myself.
“It’s new for us, so let it cook a bit.”
It seems the pair made their first public appearance at the wedding reception of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja earlier in May 2018.
Photographed by paparazzi outside the venue, they looked every inch a regal couple.
This is not the first time that either actor has dated someone from inside the industry. Notably, Ranbir has had lengthy relationships with both Bollywood bombshells Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif in the past.
He was even spotted with Pakistani star Mahira Khan in New York.
Alia was also previously rumoured to be dating her Kapoor And Sons co-star, Sidharth Malhotra, but it seems that Ranbir is now the new Bollywood hero in her life.
It’s no secret that Alia has had a crush on the famous Kapoor for quite a while. Now the feeling seems to be mutual after the pair joined forces for Karan Johar’s fantasy trilogy, Brahmastra, with Ranbir saying:”Well, I have a boy crush on her now.”
Reaction to Bollywood’s hottest new couple has been relatively mixed. While many appear to be ecstatic at the news, others were surprised considering Alia is reportedly very close to Ranbir’s ex, Katrina.

With rumours of Priyanka Chopra dating Nick Jonas also doing the rounds, some are commenting on the sudden rise of unusual jodis in the celeb world:
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are dating. So are Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Is there any other weirdass jodi that I need to know about this week?

Others meanwhile are worried that with Ranbir’s shady dating history, alleged cheating habits and tendency to break hearts, it may not last very long:

However, the Sanju star seems to have matured considerably over the years, telling GQ:
“It always comes with a lot of excitement. It’s a new person, it comes with new beats. Old tricks become new tricks again – you know, being charming and romantic, all of that.
“I think I’m more balanced today. I value relationships more, I can appreciate hurt and what it does to a person much more than I could a couple years back.”
Interestingly, potential family rifts may no longer be an issue for Ranbir and Alia. Ranbir’s mother, Neetu Singh, who was rumoured to disapprove of her son’s last girlfriend, Katrina, seems to adore Alia.
Neetu even visited Alia on the set of Brahmastra in Bulgaria for her 25th birthday celebrations in March 2018.
If that’s not all, Neetu has also commented on Alia’s photos on Instagram, indicating that she very much approves!
While Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt may still be enjoying young love, fans are eager to see them on-screen in the fantasy trilogy Brahmastra. While no release date has been announced, shooting for the film packed up at the end of March 2018.
Ranbir is currently gearing up for the release of biopic Sanju, where he essays the life of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt.
