Raghav Chadha may lose Eyesight?

Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has claimed that there is a possibility that Raghav Chadha may lose his eyesight after undergoing eye surgery.

The statement comes amid speculation over the politician’s prolonged absence from India’s political scene, especially as the General Elections are ongoing.

Chadha is an AAP leader and the husband of Bollywood star Parineeti Chopra.

Bharadwaj said: “There was a complication in his eyes, and I was told that it was quite critical that he might have lost his eyesight as well.

“He has undergone major eye surgery in the UK.

“As soon as he gets better, he (Chadha) will come back to India and join us in the election campaigning.”

AAP previously said Chadha went to the UK to have vitrectomy surgery.

Raghav Chadha has been in London since March 8, 2024, and his absence comes at a time when AAP has been battling a political storm triggered by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest in the liquor policy case.

His last post on X came on April 28 when he retweeted Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal holding a roadshow in West Delhi.

In March, the BJP criticised Raghav Chadha for meeting UK Labour MP Preet Kaur Gill.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya had accused Gill of advocating for Khalistani separatism and mobilised funds for Khalistanis.

Malviya tweeted at the time: “MP Raghav Chadha is in London, apparently for eye surgery (what happened to Delhi’s Mohalla Clinics and Health Model?), but has been in the news for meeting people inimical to India’s interest.

“What is interesting is that Parineeti Chopra, who was also in London, has returned, but Chadha hasn’t.

“One would have thought she would have wanted to be around at a time when he was being operated.”

“But looks like she has other important things on mind. Or is the surgery just an excuse to stay away?”

Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar also questioned the “intriguing absence” of Chadha.

He tweeted at the time: “In this politically surcharged atmosphere, lots of reasons are being attributed to the intriguing absence of Sh Raghav Chadha at this juncture.

“The silence of Sh Kejriwal and Sh Bhagwant Mann on this has only lent credence to such insinuations.”

Another tweet read: “Now a news report suggests that Sh Chadha has gone to London for his eye treatment.

“If that’s the case, I wish him a quick recovery and good health.”
