How did Priyanka Chopra make $10m between 2016-2017?

Forbes reports that Priyanka Chopra earned $10 million between 2016-2017. Let’s take a look at how she has become one of Bollywood’s highest-paid stars.

How did Priyanka Chopra make $10m between 2016-2017?

Forbes estimates that she earns over $3 million (approx. £2.2 million) per season!

According to Forbes, actress Priyanka Chopra has earned $10 million (approx. £7.3 million) between the years 2016 – 2017. It highlights a significant year for the Bollywood star; one where she becomes a household name in both India and the US.

2015 marked the year when PeeCee arrived on Western shores. Over the years, she has built a loyal fanbase in the US, while also earning more profits.

Now Forbes has estimated that between 1st June 2016 to 1st June 2017, she made $10 million. This elevates her to Bollywood’s seventh highest-paid star. But how has she made such a staggering amount of money in just one year?

The business magazine suggests that a combination of TV programmes, Bollywood films and endorsement deals are behind the starlet’s income.

For example, Quantico served as one of Priyanka Chopra’s first ventures into the US media. Starring in the feature role of FBI agent Alex Parrish, the actress witnessed great praise during the course of the show’s first two seasons.

She even received two People’s Choice Awards for the role; winning them in 2016 and 2017. With also an upcoming third season in January 2018, Quantico marks as a big source of income for Priyanka Chopra. Forbes estimates that she earns over $3 million (approx. £2.2 million) per season!

On the subject of TV programmes, the starlet will also work on a new ABC sitcom. Based on the life of Madhuri Dixit, PeeCee will act as one of the producers for the series.

While the medium of television has benefitted Priyanka, her income has also come from films. Despite the lukewarm reception for Baywatch, the starlet earned massive figures for her involvement in Indian cinema.

Priyanka Chopra may not have featured in Bollywood films this year, but she did produce two features back in 2016. The starlet’s work in Ventilator and Bam Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi landed most of her film income.

However, despite these TV and film appearances, a lot of PeeCee’s profits comes from endorsement deals. Forbes suggests that they make up at least 50% of her income.

Fans have seen Priyanka Chopra promote a range of products. She featured as an official ambassador for hair product Pantene, appearing in advertisements. In addition, she also appeared in a campaign for Nirav Modi, a luxury Indian jewellery brand.

According to Forbes, she even received $1 million (approx. £737,000) for representing Lyf Mobile.

Chopra is not the only female star from India earning this much money. While Priyanka is Bollywood’s seventh highest-paid star, Deepika Padukone appears at No. 5. Making $11 million (approx. £8.1 million) between 2016-2017, she is Bollywood’s highest-paid female actor.

In addition to landing the role of Serena Unger in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Deepika, like PeeCee, also makes great profits through various endorsement deals.

Regardless, with this $10 million earned by Priyanka in just one year, it highlights the successful journey of her career. Gaining a new, global audience, she has won the hearts of the US. All whilst still maintaining dominance amongst Bollywood fans.
