"Guys, this is my face and it has its own personality."
Priyanka Chahar Choudhary has addressed speculation about allegedly going under the knife to alter her appearance, saying she has the right to make personal choices without public judgment.
The actress responded to the rumours after sustained online chatter about her looks.
Talking about the speculation, Priyanka told Times of India:
“All these things have been happening for a long time.
“I was on medication throughout last year and was given very heavy doses of antibiotics, but most people don’t know that.
“It made me lose weight, but my face was bloated, even though people thought it was something else.
“As for small things, that’s okay. Everyone has the right to enhance their looks, and that is completely my choice.
“If I apply kajal or wear lenses, people start thinking I’ve done something to my face. Guys, this is my face and it has its own personality.
“It’s just a little touch-up or makeup. If you break it down as makeup, people still end up saying something, and that’s not right.”
Priyanka added that she does not allow online trolling to affect her, despite the persistence of comments about her appearance.
When asked about trolls judging people’s looks, she said:
“What’s the problem in that? It’s your choice. It’s your face and it’s completely up to you.
“Even if someone thinks it’s bad, it’s still your call. So why do people feel the need to comment or worry about it?
“I agree that we are public figures, but sometimes people become very insensitive, and that shouldn’t happen.”
“I still take it sportingly, but there are many people who can’t handle such comments.”
Priyanka Chahar Choudhary rose to prominence with the television series Udaariyaan, where she starred opposite Ankit Gupta. The pair frequently made headlines for their relationship before eventually parting ways.
On the professional front, the actress is in Naagin 7, the latest instalment of Indian television’s long-running supernatural franchise. Her look from the show was unveiled during Bigg Boss 19 last month.
Backed by Ektaa Kapoor, Naagin follows the stories of shape-shifting serpents who transform into humans, often driven by revenge or the duty to protect the mystical naagmani.
Naagin 7 premiered on December 27.
