"The lead requires the character to be complex"
Preity Zinta is set to produce a web series for Disney+ Hotstar and has reportedly roped in her actor friend Hrithik Roshan.
The show will be directed by Sandeep Modi, who has been associated with Ram Madhvani during the making of the 2016 film Neerja and the web series Aarya.
It has been reported that Hrithik and Preity will collaborate for the Indian adaptation of John Le Carre’s novel, The Night Manager.
Hrithik is set to play the night manager of a luxury hotel and former Indian soldier who gets recruited as a government agent.
A source said: “Preity thought of her friend Duggu (Hrithik) because he was perfect for the role.
“She is producing an Indian version of the celebrated John Le Carre novel The Night Manager.
“The lead requires the character to be complex and multi-layered. Hrithik immediately said yes.”
The Night Manager will be Hrithik’s digital debut as well as Preity’s first OTT production. Filming is set to begin in March 2021.
A TV version was created in the UK in 2016 which starred Hollywood actor Tom Hiddlestone in the role Hrithik is reportedly set to play.
Meanwhile, Hrithik took to Instagram to share a picture of himself as he returned to filming.
He donned a denim jacket and candidly posed for the camera. It is not known what the shoot was for but the actor is gearing up for Krrish 4 and is reportedly going to play four roles in the film.
Preity Zinta has been spending the holidays in Los Angeles with her husband Gene Goodenough and shared a glimpse from her New Year’s celebration.
The actress sent out good wishes for peace, wellness and happiness.
On her Instagram, Preity wore a ‘Hello New Year’ cap while her husband sported 2021 sunglasses as he also posed for the camera.
The couple celebrated the New Year with some of their close friends.
In the caption, she wrote: “Happy New Year everyone. Hope this year brings peace, wellness, happiness, good health & prosperity to everyone out there. Love & light always #Happynewyear #Patiparmeshwar #family #stayhome #staysafe #Behappy #2021 #Ting.”
Preity Zinta has not appeared in a film since Bhaiaji Superhit in 2018 but appeared in an episode of the American sitcom Fresh Off the Boat.
While Preity and Hrithik will collaborate as producer and actor for the first time, they have starred together numerous times in the likes of Mission Kashmir, Koi… Mil Gaya and Krrish.
