Whitney's safety could have been at risk.

American porn star Whitney Wright has faced criticism after visiting Afghanistan and sharing her trip on social media.

The adult content creator travelled to Kabul and other areas, sharing selfies, cityscapes and architecture shots online.

Her visit risked severe punishment under Taliban rule, which could include public flogging or imprisonment.

The Taliban regained control of Afghanistan in August 2021.

Since then, it has imposed strict laws that limit women’s rights, including restrictions on education, employment and movement.

Women in the country are also no longer allowed to visit national parks or beauty salons, play sports, or even travel solo beyond their houses’ perimeter.

The country also enforces severe penalties for adult content and internet use.

Whitney Wright, who is from Oklahoma, ignored the US government’s advice to avoid Afghanistan.

The Department of State warns citizens: “Do not travel to Afghanistan due to civil unrest, crime, terrorism, risk of wrongful detention, kidnapping and limited health facilities.”

Had her porn career been discovered, Whitney’s safety could have been at risk.

In Afghanistan, pornography is considered a “moral crime”. Offenders have faced severe punishments, including floggings and lengthy jail terms.

During the Taliban’s previous rule from 1996 to 2001, such punishments were common.

Public floggings and executions took place at Kabul’s national stadium, which Whitney visited.

While Taliban leaders claimed they would not repeat those practices when they returned to power in 2021, reports suggest women have faced beatings for demanding rights in recent years.

Whitney Wright has now faced backlash for promoting tourism to Afghanistan.

Critics condemned her Instagram posts, arguing they presented a misleading image of the country’s realities.

One commenter wrote: “It just makes me so frustrated seeing you spend your money on tourism in these oppressed countries where women are hardly allowed to breathe outside their homes because that is considered to be ‘too sensual’.

“Why would you EVER want to promote and give money to these governments?”

Another said: “How could you go there and promote it knowing what happens to women there?”

A third warned: “It’s not safe for a woman with an occupation like yours.”

During her visit, Whitney Wright claimed a local tried to set her up with his son.

She wrote: “A nice older man in Herat tried to set me up with his son who lives in Germany when he found out I was single.

“But when he called him, his son asked if I spoke any German. I do not – so it was not a match.”
