A Polish woman has moved to India to be with her lover in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh, whom she had befriended on Instagram.
Forty-nine-year-old Barbara is set to marry Shadab Malik.
She travelled to India with her six-year-old daughter Ananya. The pair are currently living with Shadab in Baratua village.
Barbara and Shadab met on Instagram in 2021 and their friendship soon turned into love.
The Polish woman’s love for Shadab was so strong that she and her daughter travelled to India on a tourist visa that is valid until 2027.
Both of them have now decided to get married and have applied for marriage in the Hazaribag SDM Court.
It is reported that Barbara’s daughter has already started calling Shadab “dad”.
After arriving in India, Barbara met her lover and stayed at a hotel for a few days.
But as soon as she reached Shadab’s home village, the heat bothered her so much that her boyfriend had to get two air conditioners installed at his home.
A new colour TV was also purchased.
Barbara has since been helping Shadab’s family with domestic chores.
She stated that she loves India and Hazaribagh but admitted that she does not like to visit overcrowded places.
Barbara also called Shadab a “fantastic and sweet” person.
Preparations are now in full swing for their wedding.
Barbara praised India, calling it a beautiful country. She called Hazaribagh a small city and said it was a good place to live in.
She said: “When I arrived in Hazaribagh, many people came to see me, and I felt like a celebrity.
“I have my own house, a car and a good job.
“I am from Poland, but I have come to India and Hajaribagh for Shadab.
“I am very happy with him. We are going to marry each other very soon.”
After getting news of the Polish woman living in the village, DSP Rajeev Kumar of Hazaribagh Headquarters and Inspector Abhishek Kumar visited the village and spoke to Barbara.
She showed her visa to the officers and said she would return to her home country in the coming days.
