An Indian woman tied the knot in an arranged marriage, but just eight days later, she eloped and married her lover.

The incident happened in Bihar.

It was reported that the woman, Shivani Kumari, had been in a relationship with a man for 10 years.

But when her family found out, they arranged for her to get married to another man.

Shivani had been in a relationship with Uttam Kumar, a man who lived in Kalyanpur, Bihar.

Their relationship went on for 10 years but they kept it a secret out of fear that their families would not approve.

However, Shivani’s family eventually found out about the love affair.

As a result, they arranged a wedding and pressured her to get married to a man on December 7, 2021. Despite being against the marriage, the Indian woman went through with it.

But two days after getting married, her new husband beat her.

Shivani called her lover and told him what happened.

The assault angered Uttam and he made his way over to her in-law’s house.

Upon reaching the house, Shivani and Uttam spoke. Given that Shivani was at home by herself, they took advantage of the opportunity and fled.

The pair went to a temple and got married.

Following their marriage, the couple uploaded a video of their wedding onto social media.

In the video, Shivani stated that she has married again, this time under her own free will.

She went on to appeal to the district administration, telling them not to harass her lover’s family.

Both Uttam and Shivani’s families are currently searching for them.

In a similar incident, a married woman eloped with her lover, prompting her husband to state that he wanted her back.

On February 29, 2020, the married woman turned up at Kuju Police Station with her lover Rinku and her one-year-old child. She eloped with Rinku a week before.

The woman told officers that she wanted to leave her husband and wanted to live with Rinku instead.

However, the husband and his family heard about his wife’s intentions. They soon turned up at the station.

The husband explained that he wanted his wife to come back but she refused.

This led to an argument between the estranged couple. The row became heated when they spoke about who was going to take custody of their child.

A row over the matter took place inside and outside the police station.

Officers soon intervened and managed to calm the situation down.

The husband, Anand, told officers that he tied the knot with the woman in an arranged marriage in 2018 and the two had a child.

However, the woman was still seeing her ex-boyfriend Rinku and the two decided to run away.

Even though Anand’s family conducted several searches and came up with various theories for her disappearance, they did not suspect that she eloped with her lover.

Officials suggested that the couple should divorce each other by taking the required legal measures. Anand and his wife agreed to the suggestion.

A divorce was granted between the couple and the woman moved into Rinku’s house with her child.
