A Pakistani woman travelled to India to marry her lover, whom she met on Facebook.

Mehvish arrived in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district to be with her lover Rehman.

The 25-year-old was previously married to a man from Badami Bagh, Lahore.

The couple had two sons, aged seven and 12. After 12 years of marriage, they divorced in 2018.

After her divorce, Mehvish met Rehman on Facebook. Indian national Rehman was a transporter working in Kuwait.

On March 13, 2022, they expressed their desire to marry each other. Three days later, they got married on a video call.

The couple ended up having an in-person ceremony during Mehvish’s Umrah pilgrimage to Makkah in 2023.

On July 25, 2024, Mehvish travelled from Islamabad to the Wagah border.

After her documents were checked by Pakistani and Indian authorities, she entered India on a 45-day tourist visa. Rehman’s family picked her up and brought her to their village Pithisar.

However, Mehvish’s arrival in India has attracted the attention of intelligence and security agencies, who are currently investigating her.

Police questioned the Pakistani woman and verified her passport and visa.

Meanwhile, Rehman’s first wife Farida has filed a police complaint.

Farida, whom Rehman had married in 2011, claimed that her husband’s marriage to Mehvish was unauthorised as he had not legally divorced her.

This case of cross-border love echoes an incident involving Seema Haider, who illegally entered India to live with her lover.

Seema and Sachin Meena befriended each other whilst playing PUBG.

It soon turned to love and Seema embarked on a journey with her four children to be with him, illegally entering India.

She was arrested for illegal entry while Sachin was detained for sheltering illegal immigrants.

Following her release, her neighbours and family members stated that they did not want her to return to Pakistan.

Seema was married to Saudi Arabia-based Ghulam Haider after eloping against their parents’ wishes. But she left him over his abusive behaviour.

Her native home is located in a conservative area and many have stated it is best that Seema does not return.

Meanwhile, religious leaders threatened to punish Seema if she returned.

SSP Kashmore-Kandhot Irfan Samoo said there are anomalies in Seema’s documents and story.

He said: “Her national identity card says she was born in 2002. So, she should be 21 years of age now and yet she has four children all up to the age of six years.”
