A Pakistani man identified as Irfan was arrested on Saturday, August 3, 2019, for physically abusing his young daughters.
The resident of Kabirwala, Punjab, hung his daughters, aged four and five, from a tree and beat them after blaming them for losing a USB. He used several ropes to hang them before carrying out the beatings.
It is believed that the incident was filmed which showed Irfan hanging the two girls from a tree. The video went viral on social media and officers took notice.
Khanewal District Police Officer Asad Sarfraz came across the video and directed a team of officers to investigate the case and arrest the suspect as soon as possible.
A police team went to the site of the incident and within a few hours, they arrested the Pakistani man.
They identified him as Irfan, a resident of Makhdoompur. An FIR was filed against the man.
When he was brought in for questioning, he told police that his daughters were watching videos through a USB when there was a power cut.
The flash drive disappeared when the power came back on. Irfan said he looked for it but could not find it. He claimed he became angry and he blamed his daughters for losing the USB.
Irfan then punished his daughters by hanging them from a tree. He also beat them.
The father-of-two was arrested and a case was registered under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Following the arrest, officers said appropriate action will be taken according to the law.
There have been a number of abuse cases against daughters in Pakistan.
In one case, a man from Lahore was arrested for raping his daughters, aged nine and five for several years.
The arrest happened after the mother used a mobile phone to secretly record the vile sexual abuse that her daughters went through at the hands of their father.
She filmed the assaults in a bid to gather sufficient evidence after her initial complaint was rejected due to a lack of evidence.
The mother eventually gave the footage to the media and police. The shocking footage prompted Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar to take action.
The father was arrested, however, he denied the accusations and blamed his wife for attempting to frame him.
He eventually confessed to raping and sexually abusing his young daughters.
The victims were seen by psychologists to help them with the trauma and mental damage they suffered.
