A Pakistani man has been arrested for allegedly burning his 10-month-old son during a domestic altercation in Karachi’s Liaquatabad area.

The infant, Ahmed, was reportedly tortured by his father, Amir, after an argument broke out with his wife, Nasima.

According to police, the man placed the child’s hands and legs on a burning stove in a fit of rage.

The incident took place on June 11, 2025, but came to light only after the baby was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital with critical injuries.

He was later transferred to the National Institute of Child Health (NICH).

The doctors confirmed severe burn wounds and signs of intense physical abuse.

Nasima told authorities that Amir threatened to kill their son during the fight.

She added that he had deliberately burned the child’s limbs.

The couple had been married for two years, and the relationship had reportedly been troubled for some time.

Sobia Nazir, officer-in-charge of the Women and Child Protection Cell, visited the hospital and recorded Nasima’s statement.

A case was filed against Amir, who has since been arrested and is under investigation.

During preliminary questioning, Amir claimed the conflict began after his wife expressed her desire for divorce.

Police are continuing to probe the circumstances to establish a complete picture of the events.

Doctors at NICH say the baby’s condition remains critical. His survival depends on the next few days, and he is currently receiving intensive care.

The case has triggered widespread anger and sorrow.

Citizens and activists are demanding stronger enforcement of laws protecting women and children from domestic violence.

On social media, one person said: “A 10-month-old baby. HIS OWN BABY.

“My two-year-old got a tiny cut after playing a few days ago and even then we are in pain watching him.

“How can someone be this cruel to their own child?”

Another commented: “Men should get a psycho analysis done before marriage. Our women and children aren’t safe!”

One remarked: “Not everyone deserves to be a parent. Even animals have a sense of how to treat their kids.”

Another said: “This is why people shouldn’t get their sons married in an attempt to ‘fix’ them.”

Pakistani officials have assured that the perpetrator will face the full force of the law.

The Women and Child Protection Unit is monitoring the situation closely.

This deeply disturbing case has once again highlighted the urgent need for preventive mechanisms and social support systems in matters of domestic abuse.

As Ahmed continues to fight for his life, the public hopes that justice will be swift.
