"Pakistan Cyber Force launched a retaliatory attack."
A group known as Pakistan Cyber Force hacked the Indian news channel ABP News, after which it took off its regular transmission.
This event was reported by state media as a direct retaliation for several recent Pakistani news channel breaches.
The hackers successfully aired content supporting the Pakistan Army and speeches from Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir instead.
Radio Pakistan stated: “Pakistan Cyber Force launched a retaliatory attack on India with slogans of Pakistan Zindabad started echoing on an Indian channel.”
The state broadcaster also confirmed that excerpts of speeches by the Chief of Defence Forces ran during broadcasts.
This specific cyber attack occurred just one day after the prominent Pakistani outlet Geo News faced a major breach.
The security breach at Geo News took place exactly when its scheduled 9 p.m. bulletin was about to begin.
Managing Director Azhar Abbas confirmed that the channel faced repeated hacking attempts by unknown elements for 24 hours.
He explained: “For some time now, Geo News’ broadcast has been continuously disrupted.”
The screen of the channel was compromised to display multiple different messages.
These were deemed highly inappropriate by the media management.
“The channel’s screen was hacked and an inappropriate message was aired.”
He urged local authorities to launch a full investigation and hold those responsible for the breach strictly to account.
Other major local networks like ARY News and SAMAA also suffered similar cyber attacks during their regular television transmissions.
These specific breaches reportedly displayed various messages that were highly critical of the Pakistani military and its top leadership.
One of these messages reportedly said: “A specific portion of your army has destroyed Pakistan. Stand up against it.”
In addition to hijacking broadcasts, several Pakistani news channels’ websites were allegedly used to run Google advertisement campaigns in support of Mossad.
These ads were reportedly visible across platforms operating in 19 different countries.
These digital hostilities are happening as massive tensions in the Middle East surged following recent joint military strikes.
Many experts believe that news channels are becoming primary targets for groups looking to spread propaganda or cause panic.
Public sentiment in both India and Pakistan remains very tense as these cyber attacks continue to disrupt the media.
Security teams at several media houses are now working around the clock to prevent further unauthorised access to broadcasts.
