No Eid release for Salman Khan in Over a Decade as 'Radhe' is Postponed f-2

"Who will want to go to theatres during such times?"

Salman Khan, who has filled the Eid release slot for over a decade will not be able to do the same this year (2020) as his film Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai is most likely to be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Salman Khan was set to reunite with Disha Patani for the film which was scheduled to hit the big screen on May 22, 2020.

The film also stars Randeep Hooda and Jackie Shroff in pivotal roles.

For over a decade Salman Khan has been delighting his fans with a release on Eid. This time of the year has been synonymous with the actor.

Shooting for Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai began in November 2019. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the film industry has come to a standstill.

As a result of this, the last schedule of filming is yet to be complete. According to PTI, a source close to production revealed:

“Radhe will be pushed ahead for sure. We have got two songs to shoot, there is some patchwork left of about five days or so, we also have editing that is left.

“We don’t know when the situation will be normal and when we can shoot and finish our pending work.”

It appears Eid releases have been lucky for Salman Khan as the majority of his films become major box office hits. These films include:

  • Wanted (2009)
  • Dabangg (2010)
  • Bodyguard (2011)
  • Ek Tha Tiger (2012)
  • Kick (2014)
  • Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)
  • Sultan (2016)
  • Bharat (2019)

Tubelight (2017) and Race 3 (2018) were an exception in the list Salman Khan’s Eid releases.

The source further added people would be apprehensive about going to the cinema during the virus. The source said:

“We are in the same boat as other big films that were scheduled to release.

“We are going into May soon; the film was to release on Eid which is May 22 (2020).”

“It is not that the virus will be eradicated completely within a few days or months. Who will want to go to theatres during such times?

“The fear of not venturing out of homes and going to theatres to enjoy a film is a lot more and we all will have to deal with it and overcome it.”

Helmed by Prabhudheva, Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai will be the third collaboration between the director and Salman Khan. Their previous films include Wanted (2009) and Dabangg 3 (2019).

Alongside Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, Salman Khan was also set to release Bulbul Marriage Hall starring Pulkit Samrat on April 16, 2020. This has also been delayed due to the coronavirus.
