The teaser brings audiences back to Mirzapur
The teaser of Mirzapur: The Movie has arrived, offering the first glimpse into one of the year’s most anticipated cinematic events.
For the first time, the world of Mirzapur moves from OTT to theatres.
It brings its trademark intensity, gripping storytelling, and large-scale cinematic ambition to the big screen while remaining rooted in the timeline that began with Season 1 in 2018.
The film expands the saga with an untold chapter crafted specifically for cinemas.
It is set for a theatrical release on September 4, 2026, marking a new phase for the franchise.
The teaser brings audiences back to Mirzapur with Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Divyenndu returning to their iconic world.
Jitendra Kumar also steps in as Bablu Pandit, reviving a fan-favourite character. Ravi Kishan joins the story, adding a new and powerful dimension to the universe.
The ensemble cast also includes Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Maalik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Pramod Pathak, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi, and Sonal S Chauhan.
Together, they bring to life an expanded and high-stakes continuation of the Mirzapur world across regions. The story stretches from the streets of Purvanchal to the deserts of Rajasthan.
The third season of the show ended with Akhandanand (Pankaj Tripathi) regaining the throne and Madhuri (Isha Talwar) in power, having achieved her goal of a crime-free state.
Meanwhile, Beena (Rasika Dugal) finds herself forced to reunite with a now fully healthy Akhandanand.
Guddu (Ali Fazal) is broken out of prison and in the post-credits scene, Radhiya (Prashansa Sharma) is seen approaching Maqbool (Shaji Choudhary), asking for help to save Beena from Akhandanand.
The film is reportedly set to explore events before the first season.
Mirzapur: The Movie is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment.
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, Mirzapur: The Movie will release in both Hindi and Telugu.
Writer Puneet Krishna previously said that he always envisioned Mirzapur as a film.
He also said this was the first time an Indian web series was being adapted for the big screen:
“It’s the first time this is happening. Everyone’s still figuring out how a show turns into a film in India. It’s a new format, and everyone’s excited.”
Puneet also stated that they are trying to make the film in a manner so that even those who have not watched the show can understand the relationships within the universe.
