“Those little Easter eggs are important"
Squid Game: The Challenge has returned to Netflix for a second series and among the 456 contestants is Dhruv Patel.
The 24-year-old is an analytical chemist from Florida.
In the show, Dhruv is Player 39. He said he loves “staying in hostels” and wants “to backpack around the world”, signalling his adventurous spirit as he prepares for the intense competition.
The reality series is based on the hit Korean show, giving real people a real experience of the show and the games involved.
This season, the stakes are higher than ever, with eight demanding games testing both physical endurance and psychological strategy.
The 456 players are competing for the $4.56 million cash prize, but only those who navigate the new challenges successfully will progress.

Squid Game: The Challenge will introduce several new games this season, alongside familiar favourites.
Executive producer Nicola Brown said: “Those little Easter eggs are important for both the viewers at home and the players.
“The first thing they do when they walk into the dorm is look at the walls and try to figure out what the new games might be.”
Among the new challenges is The Count, described as a game that will play a “monumental role” in determining how the rest of the competition unfolds.
Catch is another new game, where players throw a ball to others over increasingly long distances.
Games designer Ben Norman said the game adds “quite a lower-level psychological thing, where you have to consider your options.”
Slides and Ladders is a supersized board game with “high stakes”, while the Six-Legged Pentathlon requires teams of five to complete mini-games under time pressure.
The Pentathlon includes Ball-in-a-Cup, Flying Stone, Gong-gi, House of Cards, and Jegi.
Returning favourites include Mingle, which tests players’ speed and decision-making on a spinning carousel.
Series director Diccon Ramsay explained: “Ultimately, you have to play as an individual.
“If you need to jettison your friends to make sure you survive, then that decision has to be taken in the spur of the moment.”
Marbles is one of the most emotional games, where paired players compete to win or lose their marbles, with the loser eliminated.
Another new addition, Circle of Trust, involves players sitting blindfolded and passing a gift box to target someone for elimination, with the outcome depending on whether the recipient guesses correctly.
Details of the finale game remain under wraps, adding further suspense for both contestants and viewers.
With a combination of new and classic challenges, Dhruv Patel and the other contestants face a season filled with strategy, skill, and high drama.
