Indian Artist draws Squid Game cast in Desi Attire

In a viral Instagram post, an Indian artist in Canada has drawn the entire cast of Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’ in full Desi attire.

An artist has gone viral after sharing an artwork onto Instagram of the Squid Game cast in Desi clothing.

The artist, Sookham Singh, created the illustration and it has captured the attention of many, including Anupam Tripathi who plays Ali in the popular series.

The artwork has since accumulated over 11,000 likes and 400 comments.

Sookham’s latest art piece was also shared by Netflix India on their Instagram page.

Netflix India reposted the artwork to their account where it has amassed over 276,000 likes.

Actor Anupam Tripathi, who is seen as Ali Abdul in the series, also shared the artwork on his Instagram Story and captioned it with “Beautiful”.

Anupam, who grew up in Delhi, recently spoke about his desire to return to India and perform in front of his home audience.

The actor said:

“That is my ultimate dream – to perform in front of my own home and own audience.”

In the artwork, the main characters of the hit Netflix show Squid Game can be seen.

They are drawn facing forward and in traditional Desi clothing.

Sookham’s artwork is incredibly detailed and is consistent with the theme colours of the show, teal-green and red.

Sookham, who is based in Canada, also included close-ups of each character in the Instagram carousel.

The artist shared the artwork with her 22.7k Instagram followers.

In the caption, she wrote: “Squad is ready for the festive season!

“Have you watched Squid Game yet?”

Netizens loved the artwork and flocked to the comment section to share their praise.

One user said: “Great work! I could recognise everyone in an instance.”

Another said: “I was not mentally prepared for this!

“No words can describe this. Great job Sookham!”

Sookham has also drawn other celebrities, including Kendall Jenner.

From her Instagram page, it is clear to see that Sookham has a distinct art style. Her attention to detail is amazing.

She also illustrated the makeup artist’s banner for her YouTube channel.

Squid Game revolves around 456 contestants playing traditional children’s games, but with fatal consequences, to win a large cash prize.

The nine-episode series claimed the number one spot on Netflix worldwide.

On October 20, 2021, Netflix revealed that Squid Game has been watched by 142 million households worldwide, which is 65% of the streaming platform’s total user base.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police shared a road safety message on their Instagram page inspired by the ‘red light, green light’ game seen in the series.

In the caption, Mumbai Police wrote:

“You are the ‘frontman’ of your ‘game’ on the road: you can save yourself from getting eliminated. Stop at red lights.”
