Mahi will be seen playing the central character.
Popular Bangladeshi actor Mahiya Mahi is set to return to the big screen after a significant break with Saikat Nasir’s upcoming film Ontorjami.
This marks her first full-fledged acting project since stepping away from the spotlight to explore a political career, which did not unfold as planned.
Produced by Jaaz Multimedia, the film is being promoted as a “lady action movie” with no male lead and a heavy survival theme.
Unlike Agnee, which focused on revenge, Ontorjami dives into emotional and physical survival, making it a more intense narrative experience.
Though not a direct sequel, the producers describe Ontorjami as a spiritual successor to Agnee 2, tapping into similar energy and action.
Mahi will be seen playing the central character alongside her on-screen son, a nine-year-old boy named Mabshu, forming the emotional core of the film.
Action sequences will be a major highlight, choreographed by renowned Indian dance director Baba Yadav and staged by stunt expert Jaika Stunt.
The shooting of the film is scheduled to take place across three countries.
These are reported to be Bangladesh, Thailand, and the United States.
According to Jaaz Multimedia, Ontorjami is set for release in 2026 and aims to redefine female-led action films in South Asian cinema.
Mahi had earlier planned a comeback with Mostafizur Rahman Manik’s Dark World, which began filming on October 9, 2023.
However, she exited the project after a single day of shooting, citing personal reasons, and did not take on new roles immediately.
Following her maternity break and political detour, Mahi moved to the United States, where she had been living for the past year.
Her last active appearance on a film set was in Officer in Charge, directed by Badiul Alam Khokon, before stepping away from showbiz.
With Ontorjami, Mahi seems ready to reclaim her position in Dhallywood.
The film’s title, which translates to ‘inner conflict,’ reflects both the emotional and physical battles her character is expected to face.
Industry insiders are calling this one of the boldest projects by Jaaz Multimedia in recent years, especially for featuring no traditional male hero.
As fans eagerly await her return, Mahiya Mahi’s decision to headline a woman-led action film speaks volumes about her artistic evolution.
Whether Ontorjami succeeds commercially or not, it is already making headlines for its fresh premise and bold creative direction.
