"I can't go into social work again"
After winning Love Island, Sanam Harrinanan and Kai Fagan have opened up about their careers.
The couple won the reality show, having amassed over 40% of the votes.
They have now teased their plans for the future, including discussing their careers.
Sanam spoke about her role as a social worker and admitted that she cannot go back to her day job even if she wanted to.
The 24-year-old stated that she has no choice.
Sanam said: “I can’t go into social work again, I don’t think I’ll be able to.”
But she suggested that she hopes to use her platform to help children in her local area.
She continued: “But I’ve got a meeting about it this week with my social work manager because I want to be able to use this platform to help children locally.
“[Kai and I] spoke about doing stuff afterwards. We can’t go directly into it but we can use our platforms to do something.”
Former PE teacher Kai added:
“I still want to do the same thing I was doing but in a different capacity but it’s just finding out what that capacity is and how I can do it.”
He said their lives are “hectic” at the moment but once things have calmed down, they will consider their options.
Kai said: “Everything is so hectic at the minute but once everything has slowed down then that’s when we can really step away and have a think about what we’re doing to do.
“We both like working with kids before we entered the villa and that’s something that we wanna continue doing.
“I think we’re gonna like try and take part of it and invest it in like passion projects to like really help the things that we believe in.”
Similarly, Sanam said:
“We come from jobs where we both work with children and I actually want to be able to do something for those children.”
Her comments come after the couple recently suggested that they plan to use some of the £50,000 winnings to help children.
Sanam also revealed that she plans to give some money to her mother while Kai suggested that they would treat themselves to some dates and holidays abroad.
After being announced Love Island winners, Kai said:
“It’s a bit of a shock. I don’t think either of us expected to even be in the final let alone win it.
“When we got to the final, I think we were just happy to be there.
“We said the whole time along, it didn’t matter if we won it or not – positions weren’t anything, we were happy to go at any time because we knew that we had met each other and were buzzing and happy and just looking forward to our time together next.
“To come away and win it, is just the cherry on top. We are both just absolutely buzzing and shocked.”
