  • Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014

    Lakmé Fashion Week has returned for Summer/Resort 2014. Kicked off by Bollywood’s favourite designer, Manish Malhotra, Lakmé is one of the biggest events in the Indian fashion calendar.

    Lakmé Fashion Week will host some of the most influential collections of the season.

    On March, 11, 2014, the most prominent Indian designers will present their collections in Mumbai for the 22nd season of Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW).

    The Summer/Resort season will continue the tradition of treating the audience to a whirl of luxurious clothing, drama and vision.

    The event happens twice a year and is organised by Lakmé, one of the leading beauty and cosmetic brands in India. It will take place in Grand Hyatt Hotel, Mumbai, between March 11 and 16.

    Tuesday, 11th March

    LFW kicks off with Manish Malhotra opening Lakmé Fashion Week with his collection in the Main Show Area (MSA). The designer is known for his dramatic gowns and evening wear, inspired by traditional Indian costumes.

    Wednesday, 12th March

    Lakme Fashion Week

    Day 1 will start with a presentation by the Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD).

    This will be followed by collections by Drvu, Huemn, Sneha Aurora, Soup by Sougat Paul, Valliyan by Nitya Arora, Nikhil Thampi and Nishka Lulla.

    Early evening starts with the Jabong Stage showcasing the catwalk of the shows of Quirk box and Ikai by Rajini Ahuja, followed by the shows of Digvijay Singh and Vaishali S.

    Then, Narendra Kumar will offer to his audience his trademark pieces: short and colourful party dresses, skin revealing swimsuits and embellished gowns.

    The evening will feature Sounia Gohil and Swagger by Saj; their catwalk show will be presented at the Jabong stage. Tarun Tahiliani will display his collection in the MSA.

    Thursday, 13th March

    Lakmé Fashion WeekOn Day 2, the programme will begin with the fashion shows of Aartivijay Gupta, Khem, ILK by Shikhs and Vinita and Verb, Mandira Bedi, Jade by Monika and Karishma and Suman Nathwani in the MSA.

    At the LFW pavillion Aditti Mittal will present Canvas Laugh Factory Pop Up, followed by Abdul Halder and Asmia Marwa’s collection in the MSA.

    Early evening the Jabong stage will host the catwalk presentation of Veda Raheja and Sourabh Kant Shrivastava, whose recent controversial male devil show has divided the public’s opinion.

    Then, Sailex and Payal Singha will close the day’s catwalk. The programme continues with a presentation called ‘Love from India’.

    In the evening Jabong will introduce Dorothy Perkins to the Indian audience and finally, DHL will present Mawi’s Indian Odyssey featuring Gaurav Gupta.

    Friday 14th March

    Day 3 will feature Mrinalini Chandra, Sengar, [Ka][Sha] and N&S Gaja’s shows, the catwalk show by Prama by Pratima Pandey and Swapnil Shinde, who give modern twist to the traditional Indian silhouette.

    At the LFW pavillion Parmesh Shashaniwill presents the Friday Funda, followed by the collections of Gaurang, Purvi Doshi and Pinnacle – Shruti Sancheti, and catwalk shows by Lotus Sutr and Armaan Aiman at the Jabong stage.

    Then Morarka Arts and Crafts Foundation will treat the audience to 11.11/eleven eleven and Anavilla and Tilla. The Jabong stage will present the collection of kOECSH vIK BY kRESHA bAJAJ, followed by Krishna Menta, known for her creations in bold colours and classic ethno prints.

    In the evening, Sayantan Sarkar and Sva by Sonam and Paras Modi will present their collection at the Jabong stage; and the prominent designer Anita Dongre will present a show that captures the glamour of traditional Indian attire.

    Saturday 15th March

    Lakme Fashion WeekDay 4 will feature Papa Don’t Preach, Ken Ferns, Gaga and Sonaakshi Raaj’s resort collections, followed by Anushka Khanna, Ashdeen and Zhen and Mossi in the MSA.

    Then Lakmé will present its Absolute Makeup Masterclass in the LFW Pavillion. The programme will continue with the catwalk shows of Atithi Gupta, Sanjay Hingu and Kommal Sood.

    In the afternoon, the Jabong stage will display the collection of Ritika Merchandani and Farah Sanjana, followed by Rajat K Tangri and Shehlaa by Shehla Khan. Then Jabong Street Style will be presented at the Jabong stage.

    In the evening Nokia will showcase the Shantanu and Nikhil, whose shows offer glamorous attire, inspired by traditional Indian sari.

    Then Arpita Mehta and Anushree Reddy will treat their audience to their latest creations, and Anu Modi will give a spectacular closure to the day.

    Sunday 16th March

    Lakmé Fashion WeekThe final day’s program will feature the collections of Pretty Stoned, Kunal Anil Tanna, SS Surya and Theorem, Nuur Khandi and Payal Khandwala in the MSA.

    In the afternoon the Stylecracker Hood will take place in the LFW pavillion, followed by Shyamal and Bhumika’s catwalk show at the MSA. Then Debashri Samanta and Kltche’s collection will be displayed at the Jabong stage.

    In the afternoon Archana Kochhar and Jyotsna Tiwari will present their collection, followed by Little Shilpa, who will treat the audience to their unconventional creations at the Jabong stage. Reliance Trends will present the latest collection of Neeta Lulla.

    In the evening the promising designers Raven+Rose and Junelia Aguiar will present their collection at the Jabong stage. The Lakmé Grand Finale will feature Rajesh Pratap Singh, whose coveted designs combine clean cuts with outstanding prints.

    Lakmé Fashion Week will host some of the most influential collections of the season. The vibrant group of designers promises to put on a spectacular show, that will become an epitome of luxury, glamour and style.
