True Brit Entertainment has unveiled the first look images of Christmas Karma, the latest film from acclaimed director Gurinder Chadha.

Known for hits like Bend It Like Beckham and Blinded By The Light, Gurinder returns with a feel-good, festive musical set to hit cinemas across the UK and Ireland on November 14, 2025.

The film offers a modern twist on Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol, following The Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar as Mr Sood, an Indian Scrooge.

He embarks on a magical journey guided by the three Ghosts of Christmas, played by Eva Longoria, Billy Porter, and Boy George, learning that kindness is the true spirit of the season.

First-look images show Kunal with long, greying hair, complete with a beard.

Joining Kunal is a star-studded ensemble including Leo Suter, Pixie Lott, Charithra Chandran, Danny Dyer, and Hugh Bonneville.

Together, they bring to life a story that blends humour, heart, and festive cheer for audiences of all ages.

Christmas Karma features a unique soundtrack that fuses gospel, bhangra, Christmas carols, rap, and classic pop.

Contributions come from celebrated artists such as Gary Barlow, Nitin Sawhney, Shaznay Lewis, Ben Cullum, Panjabi MC, and Malkit Singh, promising a musical experience as diverse and vibrant as modern Britain itself.

Gurinder Chadha previously announced Christmas Karma in front of the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee in 2024.

She told committee members: “I’m making A Christmas Carol, but my Scrooge is an Indian Tory who hates refugees.

“But then we go on that journey with them, and hopefully they have reclamation.

“I did tell the Prime Minister about it and he said, ‘Oh, don’t make me look bad’.”

“And I said, ‘I don’t have to do that for you, Rishi’.

“The film is fun and it’s British, it’s Dickens, it’s very close to Dickens’ original themes, given our cost-of-living crisis in Britain.”

With its colourful celebration of culture, music, and community, Christmas Karma positions itself as a new Christmas classic, offering audiences a joyous cinematic experience for the festive season.

And for Gurinder Chadha, she has a number of other projects lined up, including a sequel to Bend It Like Beckham.
