Mirpur Khas was not the only city where such unrest occurred.
Protests in Pakistan have intensified as demonstrators targeted KFC outlets in different cities, expressing anger over the ongoing war in Palestine.
The most notable incident took place in Mirpur Khas, Sindh, on April 8, 2025.
A group of protesters targeted the KFC outlet located on Hyderabad Road, one of the city’s busiest commercial areas.
The protesters, frustrated over the war in Palestine, pelted stones at the restaurant, smashed windows, and eventually set the building on fire.
The damage was extensive, with parts of the establishment completely destroyed.
Law enforcement responded promptly to the situation. To disperse the crowd and restore order, the police used aerial firing.
The authorities acted swiftly to contain the unrest, and 11 individuals were taken into custody.
Legal action is being pursued against those responsible for the property damage and for disrupting public order.
Police have also assured that further measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
Mirpur Khas was not the only city where such unrest occurred.
Earlier on the same day, protests in Karachi also turned violent.
In the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area, a group of around 40 young protesters, armed with sticks and stones, attacked a KFC outlet.
The group attempted to vandalise the restaurant, smashing windows and causing significant damage.
The police quickly intervened, dispersing the crowd and making 10 arrests.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza confirmed that the situation was under control.
He stated that further actions would be taken against the remaining protesters and the individuals behind the organisation of the protests.
In addition to the KFC incident in DHA, another KFC branch in Peshawar was attacked on the same night.
Protesters demanded that the restaurant close down.
The attackers damaged the premises with sticks and stones, causing significant disruption.
While an FIR was filed in this case, no arrests have been made as of yet. The authorities are continuing their investigations into the incident.
These protests are part of a larger wave of unrest in the region, which has spread beyond Pakistan.
Similar incidents of protest have been reported in Bangladesh, where demonstrators have also targeted businesses associated with foreign countries.
Social media has played a significant role in amplifying the discontent, with posts calling for action against those perceived to be supporting the war.
Authorities are now on high alert, increasing security measures at foreign food outlets to prevent further incidents of vandalism.
