Katrina Kaif replaces Priyanka Chopra in Bharat

After Priyanka Chopra’s departure from the film Bharat, Salman Khan has confirmered that Tiger Zinda Hai’s Katrina Kaif will play his leading lady.

Katrina Kaif replaces Priyanka Chopra in Bharat?

Katrina was the original choice of the movie producers

Priyanka Chopra’s recent departure from 2019’s big release Bharat has left Salman Khan in a sticky situation.

Her recent career move, amidst her engagement rumours to Nick Jonas, has led to controversy as some people have started to question her professional integrity.

Reel Life Productions CEO Nikhil Namit even called Priyanka’s decision ‘unprofessional’.

Despite this, Salman Khan and the director of the film Ali Abbas Zafar seem to be happy for the newly engaged couple.

Although this does leave the bonafide Khan in hot water. Now Salman has confirmed that instead of ‘Desi Girl’ Chopra, Katrina Kaif, will be Bharat’s new leading lady.

Why Katrina Kaif?

Katrina Kaif is known to have a good relationship with director Abbas Ali Khan after working with him on the blockbuster sensation, Tiger Zinda Hai.

Zafar shared:

“I am extremely excited to work with Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan once again for Bharat.

“We have had exciting collaborations in the past and it is very interesting to work with the duo once again.

“It is very delightful to work with the immensely talented actress yet again.”

In a recent report, a source from DNA India revealed that Katrina was the “original choice of the movie producers.”

The source continues:

“Producers Atul and Alvira Agnihotri share a warm relationship with Katrina Kaif.

“When this whole mishap happened, they just called her and sort out her dates.”

The production of the film started this month and the teaser of the film has already been released on Zafar’s Twitter.

The new leading lady is set to play Salman’s love interest. Katrina is going to join the Bharat Team in September once she has carried out her previous commitments.

Or Kareena Kapoor Khan?

Apparently, Salman Khan initially wanted Veere Di Wedding superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan to be his leading lady in the film.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Salman Khan have worked together on numerous occasions in the past. Their pairing has always been well-received and popular on the silver screen.

They have delivered so many hits such as Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Bodyguard among others.

However, the popular actress turned down Khan’s offer because she had already given her word to another big-dog in Bollywood.

Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to work on Shahrukh Khan’s new film Salute.

A biopic based on the Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma.

However, when the role was first offered Kareena was rumoured to be unhappy with the initial script.

Reports are claiming that Kareena wanted her role to be just as strong as Shah Rukh Khan’s and the filmmakers agreed. Prompting the star to agree to the film.

So, when Salman Khan approached Kareena with this film offer, producers of the film Salute had already agreed to her demand.

This meant her dates no longer correlated with the Bharat team and she could not join the film.

The film Bharat is the official adaptation of the South Korean film called Ode to my Father.

Reports claim that the Tiger Zinda Hai sensation will be featured in five different attires throughout the course of the film.

The 2019 Eid release will also feature Khan recreating his iconic look from Karan-Arjun.

The filming for Bharat will take place in Punjab, Delhi, Abu Dhabi and Malta.

Bharat is set to release on 5th June 2019.
