"suffering from FOMO! DHURANDHAR FOMO."
Karan Johar addressed the buzz surrounding Dhurandhar: The Revenge and revealed he hasn’t watched the film yet.
The filmmaker took to Instagram to reveal that he is currently shooting in a remote location that doesn’t have a cinema nearby, which has kept him away from watching the new release.
Stating he has “Dhurandhar FOMO”, Karan said the film’s chatter has intensified his anticipation.
He wrote: “I am filming in a location that has no access to a cinema and am suffering from FOMO! DHURANDHAR FOMO.
“I can’t wait to watch it and am so proud of so many members of our fraternity who are coming out and supporting and loving the film… it’s so heartening to see the united love for an INDIAN FILM! @adityadharfilms @officialjiostudios @ranveersingh.”
Dhurandhar centres on Ranveer Singh’s Hamza Ali Mazari, an Indian spy who goes undercover to infiltrate Pakistan’s criminal syndicates.
The 2025 film was a huge box office hit and in India, it is currently the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
The sequel continues Hamza’s story and also explores his origins as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, tracing his transformation into a covert operative.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge has already crossed Rs. 500 Crore.
Karan Johar also addressed speculation around a Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham sequel.
During a conversation with Sonal Kalra on The Right Angle, Karan explained his stance on revisiting the 2001 family drama. He emphasised that its legacy is rooted in nostalgia rather than the need for continuation.
He said he would never make a sequel, “not because K3G was the best film ever made, not at all. Every film has its flaws, but what K3G has in abundance is nostalgia”.
Karan added: “There are generations that have grown up watching the film, for what they loved, what they didn’t, what they cried about.
“I am very grateful to the universe that I got to make a film that still lives on.”
On the professional front, Karan’s recent production Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, failed to impress audiences.
Karan’s upcoming production slate includes Nagzilla, a supernatural high-fantasy comedy-drama directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and backed by Dharma Productions. The film is scheduled for release in August 2026.
Another upcoming project is Chand Mera Dil, starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday. The romantic drama is slated to release on May 8, 2026.
