"How did this man get so much courage?"

Kapil Sharma and Ginni Chatrath have been married for over three years and have two kids together.

Despite being a popular comedian who lives his life in the public eye, Kapil rarely talks about his marriage with Ginni.

In a new promotional video for his upcoming Netflix special Kapil Sharma: I’m Not Done Yet, Kapil reveals he proposed to Ginni whilst drunk.

In the video, Kapil shares that he and Ginni were in the same drama group during college and she was his “favourite actress”.

Kapil says: “I used to assign her a lot of work.

“She used to call me and report what happened and how many rehearsals they did.”

Kapil then tells the audience: “One day, I had drunk Officer’s Choice when she called me.

“High thoughts! As soon as I picked up, I asked ‘Do you love me?’

“She was shocked and said ‘What? How did this man get so much courage?’

“I am thankful I didn’t drink toddy that day. Otherwise, my question would have been ‘Ginni, does your father need a driver?'”

In the clip, Kapil Sharma then has a question for Ginni, who is sitting in the audience.

He asks her why despite being from a good family that was financially well-off, she fell in love with him – a “scooter owner”.

As the audience laughs, Ginni Chatrath promptly replies:

“I thought everyone loves a rich guy. Let me do some charity for this poor guy.”

Kapil Sharma and Ginni Chatrath tied the knot on December 12, 2018, in Jalandhar.

The couple welcomed their first child, Anayra on December 10, 2019, and their son Trishaan, on February 1, 2021.

Kapil’s Netflix special stand-up act I’m Not Done Yet will begin streaming on the platform from January 28, 2022.

Recently, producer Mahaveer Jain announced a biopic on the comedian’s life, titled Funkaar.

Funkaar is an Urdu word that roughly translates to ‘artiste’.

Talking about the film, Mahaveer Jain said:

“Billions of people get their daily dose of dopamine, courtesy of Kapil Sharma.”

“We all need love, life and laughter.

“We are proud to present comedy superstar Kapil Sharma’s untold story on the big screen, in a big way.”

The upcoming film will be directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.

Kapil Sharma has acted in films before, making his debut in a minor role in the 2010 film Bhavnao Ko Samjho.

The comedian went on to play the lead role in films such as Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon and Firangi.
