Jacqueline Fernandez named as Accused in Extortion Case

Jacqueline Fernandez has been named as an accused in the charge sheet in the alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s extortion case.

According to a report by the Times of India, the Bachchan Paandey actress may not be arrested immediately as the court is yet to take notice of the charge sheet.

However, she may not be allowed to travel outside India. It is also alleged that Jacqueline spoke to Sukesh while he was in jail.

Jacqueline Fernandez has been under investigation for the extortion case since December 2021.

The investigation is being carried out by the law enforcement agency Enforcement Directorate (ED), which has questioned Jacqueline on several occasions before on her relationship with Sukesh, including for over ten hours on December 9.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the agency believes she is a “beneficiary” of Sukesh’s suspected extortion schemes, which he reportedly executed by defrauding money from several high-profile individuals.

The report elaborates that during the alleged relationship between Sukesh and Jacqueline, he gifted the Miss Universe contender many expensive gifts, including designer handbags and jewellery.

The actress’s spokesperson had stated earlier that she would testify as a witness before the agency.

The spokesperson said: “Jacqueline Fernandez is being called to testify as a witness by the ED.

“She has duly recorded her statements and in future will also be completely cooperating with the agency in the investigations.”

Amid the investigation, Jacqueline Fernandez is set to appear on the big screen this year in Cirkus alongside Ranveer Singh and Ram Setu alongside Akshay Kumar.

In other news, film producers are allegedly avoiding signing the Bollywood actress for their new projects due to her involvement with the extortion case.

A filmmaker who has worked with the actress in the past spoke on condition of anonymity to Bollywood Hungama: “She (Jacqueline) had been losing work rapidly after the ED’s multiple summonses.

“The recent films that she’s been seen in like Bachchan Pandey and Vikrant Rona were all old projects.

“No one is signing her for new films considering the uncertainty.”

With the ED naming Jacqueline Fernandez in the extortion case against Sukesh the chances of the actress’ arrest are being scaled as “very high”.

Given the situation, it is unlikely that Jacqueline will bounce back from this severe setback.

“It’s really sad. She is a very nice girl. She got embroiled in this without knowing what she was getting into,” a female colleague of Jacqueline Fernandez says, adding that it’s “unlikely” that she will meet Jacqueline to offer her comfort.
