Jacqueline Fernandez was granted bail on November 15, 2022, in the Rs. 200 crore extortion case, involving Sukesh Chandrasekhar.

The Delhi Patiala High Court Special Judge Shailendra Malik granted bail on Rs 2 lakh bail bond.

Now, the 37-year-old actor can also travel abroad with the prior permission of the court.

During the arguments, the court questioned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for deciding to not arrest Jacqueline Fernandez during the investigation of the case.

The special judge asked: “Why haven’t you (ED) arrested Jacqueline yet during the investigation despite issuing a LOC?

“Other accused are in jail…Why are you putting different criteria?”

The court said: “You can’t have a pick-and-choose policy. There must be reasons for not arresting (an accused).”

Responding to the court’s poser, advocate Shailesh N Pathak, appearing for the agency, said that a Lookout Circular (LoC) was already open against the actor and so the Investigating Officer did not exercise his power of arrest.

The ED’s documents mentioned the details of the statements recorded by Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi.

Jacqueline had sought bail on the ground that there was no need for her custody since the investigation is already complete and the charge sheet has been filed.

According to reports, Jacqueline Fernandez was dating Sukesh before getting caught up in the case.

As per a report in the Times of India, Jaqueline Fernandez allegedly received pricey gifts from conman Sukesh.

Earlier, the ED also named her as accused in the charge sheet citing she has been a recipient of the money extorted.

However, she filed a bail plea, and the ED opposed the same stating that she could flee the country to get away with the investigation.

The ED said: “We have not seen Rs 50 lakh in cash in our entire life but Jacqueline frittered away Rs 7.14 crore for fun.

“She has tried every trick in the book to try and escape because she has enough money.”

The Sri Lanka-born Bollywood actor said she received gifts including luxury cars, Gucci and Chanel handbags, Gucci gym wear, Louis Vuitton shoes, and jewellery.

Further, she said Sukesh Chandrasekhar had arranged private jet trips and hotel stays for her.

Sukesh Chandrasekhar, who has been in a Delhi jail since 2017, allegedly has cheated many, including former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi Singh.
