"I told Bobby to take the car if he is getting this chance."
Nora Fatehi was questioned by the Delhi Police for over six hours in connection with Sukesh Chandrasekhar’s money laundering case.
The Enforcement Directorate had previously questioned the alleged conman and the actress together on suspicion of money laundering.
It was reported that Nora answered around 50 questions.
She said she was not aware of Chandrasekhar’s criminal background and had no connection with Jacqueline Fernandez, who has been named as an accused in the case.
However, Nora did reveal that both she and Jacqueline had been speaking to Chandrasekhar separately.
Special Commissioner of Police Ravindra Singh Yadav said:
“Sukesh Chandrasekhar case has given gifts and other items to many Bollywood actresses.
“We are investigating the matter. That’s why Nora Fatehi was called for questioning. Whether she is an accused or a witness will be decided after investigation.
“Names of two-three more Bollywood actresses have come up. We will also interrogate Jacqueline Fernandez.”
During questioning, Nora denied speaking to the conman before December 12, 2020.
Meanwhile, Chandrasekhar claimed he had spoken to her two weeks prior to that.
On the BMW that was allegedly gifted to her, Nora claimed she said “ok” when initially offered the expensive gift but later said she did not need it.
She said: “So I informed Bobby about this, Bobby had spoken to Sukesh in this regard.
“I told Bobby to take the car if he is getting this chance.”
Bobby Khan is a family friend of Nora’s.
However, Chandrasekhar said he gifted the car directly to Nora and Bobby had nothing to do with it.
The actress was also asked if there was an exchange of lavish gifts between them.
Nora dismissed this, saying she was publicly gifted a Gucci bag and an iPhone 12 at an event where she was the chief guest.
But Chandrasekhar said he gifted four bags to Nora, which she picked herself, along with some money. He claimed the bags were picked up by Nora’s staff at a Mumbai mall.
Sukesh Chandrasekhar is accused of extorting Rs. 200 Crore (£21.7 million).
His wife Leena Marie Paul is also believed to be involved.
Both were arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) for running an extortion racket from a Delhi jail.
Nora Fatehi had previously said that Leena had called her and put the phone on loudspeaker, where Chandrasekhar thanked her and said that they were her fans.
Leena then said that they were going to give her a brand-new BMW as a token of appreciation.
Nora Fatehi’s statements were recorded under section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 twice in 2021 where she stated that she got a booking for a charity event and during the event, she was gifted a Gucci bag and an iPhone by Chandrasekhar’s wife.
