"I think I was drunk or something."
Karan Johar took the mickey out of his own film Student of the Year during an episode of Koffee with Karan.
The episode saw Sidharth Malhotra and Vicky Kaushal grace the sofa.
During the show, Vicky and Sidharth spoke about their career trajectories.
Karan also discussed Sidharth’s debut film Student of the Year, admitting he had doubts about making the film in the first place.
Karan recalled sitting with creative director Abhishek Varman on the fourth day of filming.
He then told Abhishek: “Why are we making this film? Have you read the script? Abhishek asked, ‘Karan, what are you doing?’
“I suddenly decided to read the script cover to cover.”
Sidharth interrupted: “You’re just under-valuing yourself.”
Karan Johar continued: “What we finally shot was very different from what the script actually was. We changed that.
“I don’t know what I was doing. I think I was drunk or something. I started shooting for the film and I was like why is the script so bad?
“Of course, it turned out to be an entertaining watch, but it had its own journey.”
Student of the Year launched the likes of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra and in 2022, it marked 10 years since its release.
The episode witnessed another revelation as Sidharth hinted that he is dating Kiara Advani.
Karan played a clip of Kiara from an unreleased episode of the talk show, in which she accepted that she and Sidharth are “more than just close friends”.
Karan had also asked Kiara about her marriage plans.
Kiara said she wants to get married but will not reveal her plans on Koffee With Karan.
After watching the footage, Sidharth asked:
“Why did you ask her so many questions?”
When Karan said that has decided what to do at the wedding, Sidharth said:
“Karan, let’s see. We want to have, everyone wants to work and have a happy future and life. Good to know we have your blessings.”
The episode marked Sidharth’s fourth appearance on the show.
He previously appeared with Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Aditya Roy Kapur.
