As India’s General Election approaches, Sanjay Dutt opened up on the rumours that he is joining politics.
The star took to X to address the speculation.
He confirmed that the rumours are untrue. He wrote:
“I would like to put all rumours about me joining politics to rest.
“I am not joining any party or contesting elections.
“If I do decide to step into the political arena then I will be the first one to announce it.
“Please refrain from believing what is being circulated in the news about me as of now.”

Sanjay Dutt was born to actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis, who both contributed to politics and philanthropic causes during their careers.
Beginning in 1982, Sunil Dutt held the position of the Sheriff of Bombay for the next year.
In 1984, he became a member of Parliament and was the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports from 2004 to 2005.
In 1993, Sanjay was arrested for possessing a rifle and Sunil Dutt worked hard to free him.
The ordeal ultimately ended in 2016 – 11 years after Sunil had passed away.
After Sunil died, his seat in Parliament was taken over by his daughter Priya Dutt and she remained in the position until 2014.
In 2009, Sanjay did dabble in politics but failed to make an impression.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt was recently trolled after his eldest daughter Trishala Dutt posted a message about absent parents on her social media handle.
She had written: “Sometimes, an absent parent is a blessing in disguise.
“Because the demons they carry can inflict more pain than their absence ever could.
“It’s not fair and it’s not right, but you’ll be okay.”
Trishala was born in 1988 to Sanjay and his first wife Richa Sharma Dutt.
After Richa was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour, she moved to America with Trishala.
Trishala stayed in America even after Richa passed away in 1996, where she continues to live.
Meanwhile, Sanjay stayed in India to pursue his acting career.
This led many netizens to target Sanjay.
The actor has also been open about his battle with drug use when he was in the early days of his career.
Sanjay began his film career in 1981 with Rocky. He has since gone on to become one of Bollywood’s most popular stars.
In 2018, Rajkumar Hirani released a biopic on Sanjay. The film was titled Sanju and it featured Ranbir Kapoor as the Naam actor.
On the work front, Sanjay Dutt has several projects in the pipeline including Baap and Welcome to the Jungle.
