Members of the Indian community in the UK staged a protest outside the Pakistan High Commission in London on April 25, 2025.

The protest followed the attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 tourists on April 22.

Carrying Indian flags, banners, and placards, the demonstrators expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and demanded justice for the victims.

Protesters chanted slogans while others held placards outside the Pakistan High Commission.

Accusations were made against Pakistan for allegedly sheltering and supporting groups responsible for orchestrating such attacks.

One protester said: “They (Pakistan) have nurtured a terror factory, and because of which our 26 people were killed in Pahalgam. We have gathered to protest against it.”

Another member of the Indian diaspora described the attack as a “heinous” act, saying the UK’s Indian community was deeply agitated.

The demonstrators maintained a peaceful and dignified atmosphere while showing solidarity with the victims and their families.

An Indo-Jewish protester said the Jewish community stood with India, citing common threats faced by both countries.

He drew a parallel between the Pahalgam tragedy and the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, highlighting the need for unity against extremist violence.

Meanwhile, the Indian government announced the revocation of most visa categories for Pakistani nationals, effective from April 27, 2025.

In a statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs said: “The Government of India has revoked all existing Visas issued to Pakistani nationals, except Long Term Visas, Diplomatic and Official visas, with immediate effect from 27th April 2025.

“Medical Visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be valid only till 29th April 2025.”

The decision marks a significant policy shift amid growing diplomatic tensions following the Pahalgam attack.

Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan held a video conference with chief secretaries of all states to discuss the implementation of the new measures.

The Ministry directed state officials to identify Pakistani nationals currently residing in India and take immediate steps to facilitate their deportation.

Following the announcement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah consulted chief ministers across the country via telephone.

Officials have been instructed to ensure prompt and lawful deportation procedures for all affected individuals.

The government’s move signals a tightening of border security and a more stringent approach to regulating foreign nationals from Pakistan.

Authorities have stressed the importance of maintaining order and adhering to legal processes during the deportation efforts.
