An Indian woman has been arrested for beating an e-rickshaw driver after a minor accident in which his vehicle collided with her car.

The incident happened in the city of Noida.

The woman, identified as Kiran Singh, assaulted the man on a busy road and people nearby subsequently filmed the incident.

The video showed the aftermath of the collision.

Kiran is seen shouting at the man while the man calmly tries to talk to her. She then pulls him by the arm towards her car whilst continuing to berate him.

The Indian woman begins slapping the driver across the face whilst shouting at him for hitting her car, showing him the barely visible dent.

Meanwhile, the man tries to calm the situation down.

However, Kiran refuses to listen to him, continuing to slap and shout at him.

She then grabs him by the collar and shoves him back to his e-rickshaw.

Kiran’s behaviour remains aggressive as she slaps him again before pushing him back again towards her car.

Although unconfirmed, it appeared as though she was demanding money to pay for the damage.

When the man tried to plead with her, she verbally abused and slapped him. She then pulls at his shirt, seemingly taking money from him.

Meanwhile, some of the locals stood there and watched the assault.

In the nearly 90-second video, Kiran slapped the e-rickshaw driver at least 17 times.

The video went viral and it sparked outrage among social media users.

Many slammed the Indian woman for her behaviour.

One said: “The e-rickshaw collided with the woman’s car, causing minor damage, but she decided to take revenge on him in her own way.

Another wrote:

“She must be in jail to show the countrymen that law is equal to everybody for all kinds of crimes.”

A third said: “This is a misuse of gender and economic standard. The full force of applicable law must be applied.”

One user commented: “Shameless woman and a very docile Toto driver. Kept on taking the thrashing. Should be booked and given appropriate punishment. Cannot take things for granted merely because she is a woman.”

The video attracted the attention of the police and a case was filed against her.

A police official said: “The woman got out of the car and slapped the e-rickshaw driver multiple times.”

The woman has since been arrested.
