In the village Ghudda in the district of Bhatinda, Punjab, a son together with three of his accomplices murdered his mother suspecting her of having an affair with a local man.

After the son, named Jasvir Singh, a Nihang Singh, got to know about the affair, he planned to kill his mother, Sukhpal Kaur, with the help of his companions.

Jasvir Singh, aged 33, is from the village of Kotguru in Sangat Mandi, Bathinda, Punjab, and an employee of Gurudwara Kaulsar Sahib Niyamawali in Amritsar.

A case has been registered by Punjab police accusing four people of the murder, including the son.

Three of the accused accomplices were tracked down and arrested within three days of the initial report of the incident.

The accomplices of Jasvir Singh have been identified as Jagtar Singh, Mangat Singh, both residents of village Dod in Faridkot and Joginder Singh from Faridkot.

Jasvir Singh, Jagtar Singh and Mangat Singh have been arrested by police.

At a press conference regarding the case, Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr Nanak Singh said that on the night of August 16-17, 2019, Sukhpal Kaur wife of late Balkaran Singh was killed by strangulation.

Sukhpal Kaur was the mother of three children, two daughters and a son. Her husband passed away about 10 years ago.

The eldest, Jasvir Singh had got into an argument with his mother about eight years ago and subsequently, got employment at Gurudwara Kaulsar Sahib Niyamawali.

Both of Sukhpal Kaur’s daughters, Gurmail Kaur and Gurpreet Kaur got married and left home, leaving Sukhpal Kaur alone at their house in the village.

After their mother was found murdered, the eldest daughter Gurpreet Kaur gave a statement to the police regarding the loss of her mother, after which the case was registered.

The police commenced investigating different aspects of the ‘blind murder’ and eventually traced the killing back to the suspects.

The SSP said that Jasvir Singh the son, Jagtar Singh, Mangat Singh and Joginder Singh had murdered Sukhpal Kaur under a conspiracy with the suspicion of an affair.

Of the accomplices, Jagtar Singh was already a criminal and out on bail related to a murder case in Fradikot in 2001.
