"The couple had been getting into a lot of fights"

An Indian wife planted cannabis in her husband’s auto-rickshaw because she suspected that he was having an affair.

The unnamed woman planted the drugs in an act of revenge. She then called the police in a bid to get him arrested.

The incident happened in the city of Faridabad, Haryana.

However, it did not go to plan as the woman’s intentions began to unravel and it was later discovered that she planted the cannabis. As a result, she was arrested.

The woman is originally from Uttar Pradesh but moved to Faridabad.

Meanwhile, her husband is an auto-rickshaw driver.

The woman believed her husband was having an affair due to the peculiar times he returned home at night.

Because of her suspicions, the couple would often get into arguments over the matter.

Inspector Sube Singh, of Faridabad Police, said: “Her husband used to often return home late at night, and sometimes would not return at night altogether because of which the woman began suspecting him.

“The couple had been getting into a lot of fights over this recently and, to take revenge against him, she decided to trap him in a police case and get him arrested.”

The woman travelled to Delhi and bought cannabis from a man named Pawan.

Upon returning to Faridabad, she planted the drugs in her husband’s vehicle and called the police.

Inspector Singh continued: “The woman went to Delhi and bought cannabis from a man named Pawan, which she placed in her husband’s auto rickshaw.

“She then tipped off police regarding the drugs.”

The wife’s plan initially worked as the police found the drugs and arrested her husband.

But during the investigation, the woman’s involvement in the matter began to come to light.

The investigation revealed that the woman had purchased the drugs and planted them in order to implicate her husband in a false case.

She was arrested and the cannabis was seized.

Inspector Singh told The Indian Express:

“The woman has been arrested by police and 700 grams of cannabis seized.”

“An FIR has been registered against her under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the SGM Nagar police station.

“She has been produced in court and sent to prison.

“Investigations are underway to track down and nab Pawan, from whom she had purchased the drugs.”
