Police have arrested an Indian husband after he beheaded his wife, suspecting adultery.
The horrific incident happened in the district of Raigad, Maharashtra.
The murder came to light on December 13, 2021, when the headless body of a woman was discovered.
According to police, they solved the case in just 24 hours.
District Police Superintendent Ashok Dudhe stated that her husband was arrested on suspicion of murder.
When questioned, he admitted to the crime, saying he suspected she was having an affair.
The victim was identified as Poonam Pal, a nurse.
Her severed body had been found naked.
Police checked nearby CCTV footage and saw a man with the woman prior to her death. Upon further analysis, officers discovered that the man was her husband Ramsilochan Pal.
He worked as a software engineer and resided in the New Panvel area.
It was revealed that he and Poonam had been married since May 2021.
After marriage, Poonam continued to live with her parents in Malad as a result of her job.
She would visit her husband whenever she had time off from work.
On the weekend of December 11, 2021, the couple visited Matheran and booked a hotel room. They were expected to leave on December 13.
During the investigation, it was found that Ramsilochan had booked the hotel room under the false names Amjad Khan and Rubina Begum.
He also gave a false address.
The checking out time at the hotel was 9 am. It is believed the Indian husband killed his wife earlier in the morning.
After killing his wife, Ramsilochan beheaded his wife and threw the head in a ditch near a railway track.
The hotel staff discovered the gruesome scene in the room and informed the police.
A murder investigation was subsequently registered.
During the investigation, police found the body. They later found the victim’s severed head.
Police checked CCTV cameras and saw a man entering the hotel with the victim.
Police searched the hotel and spoke to staff members. Their information eventually led them to Ramsilochan.
According to officers, Ramsilochan kept his wife’s head in a bag for a while after the murder. In a bid to prevent his wife from being identified, he dumped the head in a ditch.
During police questioning, Ramsilochan admitted the crime.
He said that he killed his wife because he suspected that she was having an affair.
Ramsilochan had this suspicion because his wife continued to live with her parents. Therefore, he believed she was seeing a man who lived in the same area as her.
