An Indian husband has been arrested for beheading his wife after accusing her of having an affair.
The shocking incident happened in Uttar Pradesh.
He was arrested after walking into a police station whilst carrying the decapitated head of his wife.
According to police, Chinnar Yadav attacked Vimla with a sharp weapon following a heated argument in which he accused her of being unfaithful with their neighbour.
A local filmed Yadav carrying his wife’s severed head in his hand. It was reported that Yadav also injured the neighbour who he had accused of having an affair with his wife.
The video clip shows Yadav walking calmly along a street carrying his wife’s head by the hair on October 9, 2020, in the Neta Nagar area of Banda district.
He is also seen carrying what appears to be the murder weapon.
The clip ends as Yadav is about to enter Baberu Police Station to surrender.
As soon as he entered the police station, officers arrested the Indian husband and recovered the murder weapon.
Officers were also shocked to see Yadav entering the police station with his wife’s severed head and the weapon in his hand.
According to police, Yadav had suspected that his wife had been having an affair with the neighbour for the past few months.
The couple would often engage in arguments and fights over the issue, however, things escalated on October 9, 2020.
Following an argument, Yadav became enraged and attacked his wife. He killed her before cutting off her head.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mahendra Pratap Chauhan said:
“After a heated argument, the accused attacked his wife with a sharp weapon, killing her and then beheading her.”
“After which he carried his wife’s severed head to Baberu Police Station where he surrendered.
“The accused was arrested and the weapon was also recovered from him by the cops.”
Following Yadav’s arrest, police are continuing with the investigation to find out if Yadav has mental health issues.
In a similar incident, a man from Odisha beheaded his wife after suspecting that she was having an affair.
He had got into an argument with his wife and ended up killing her. He then beheaded her.
After carrying out the killing, the man realised what he had done and he went to Astaranga Police Station with her severed head
The man showed officers his wife’s head and told them what had happened. He was later arrested.
