A 25-year-old Indian mother was arrested for killing her three-year-old daughter in order to move in with her lover.

Kajal Kumari, of Muzaffarpur, Bihar, violently murdered her daughter Misti by slitting her throat and putting her body in a suitcase, which she then threw into a bush.

Kumari told police that she was having an extramarital affair and wanted to leave her husband. However, her boyfriend did not want her daughter to move in with them.

Therefore, she began to plot Misti’s murder. Kumari told officers she was inspired by Crime Patrol.

Misti’s body was recovered from the red trolley suitcase in a residential neighbourhood in Minapur on August 24, 2024.

The recovery of her body shocked locals and caused the police to form a Special Investigation Team into the killing.

The forensic team found traces of blood on the floor, in the sink and on the terrace of the family’s home.

Kumari had been missing, and police found that she called her husband Manoj on the day of the murder and told him she was going to her aunt’s house.

Manoj filed a complaint against his wife, and a report was registered.

The police traced her phone and conducted raids. She was found at her boyfriend’s house.

During questioning, the Indian mother said she had wanted to move in with her boyfriend for the past two years.

City Police Chief Awadhesh Dixit said: “She wanted to take her daughter along, but the boyfriend did not want this.

“The woman was confused. Eventually, she slit her daughter’s throat with a knife.

“She then stuffed the body in a red trolley bag and dumped it in the bushes next to their home.”

The officer also said that Kumari had tried to clean the blood spots around the house, but the forensic team could still find traces.

The police also recovered the murder weapon.

Dixit added: “She committed the murder alone.

“She has said that she used to watch Crime Patrol and got the idea to kill her daughter and stuff the body in a suitcase from some episodes of the TV show.”

When asked if the boyfriend had a role in the crime, Dixit said:

“We have not found anything suggesting the boyfriend’s role in the killing, so we have not detained him.

“She has also said she committed the crime after being influenced by Crime Patrol and that her boyfriend did not talk her into doing it.”
