An Indian groom has been making headlines for playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) at his own wedding ceremony.
A video of the young man playing the game has circulated on social media, with some users finding it funny while others have said it is worrying.
The video clip was captured on popular video sharing app TikTok and it shows the groom busy on his phone while ignoring his wife.
The young man is dressed in a red kurta and with a garland around his neck. He is seated on a stage alongside his new wife while engrossed in the game.
In the video, a DJ can be heard playing loud music in the background while the bride sits quietly and hopelessly looks at her husband.
It looks like nothing can stand between the man and PUBG as he continues playing without realising that his wife is looking at him.
The video also shows someone offering the groom a gift but he quickly pushes it away because it apparently blocks his view.
Though it is unclear where the bizarre incident took place, it has been shared on several social media platforms.
As it was filmed on TikTok, it is not known if the clip is staged.
Some users were amused by the clip. One user posted: “Such an inspiration of the youth of the nation.”
Another user was more sceptical and thought it was staged:
“It’s staged. Anything for fame these days.”
Several users also tagged their friends who they thought were just as addicted to the game as the Indian groom.
The game is extremely popular in India, especially on mobile. It has even led to the game being banned in certain regions of the country.
One Twitter user wrote: “I can see why they banned PUBG in India.”
Monika Arora shared the news and commented:
“Addiction of mobile and PUBG to an unbelievable level.
“A bride-groom engrossed in the game ignoring gifts and his newly wedded wife.”
The tweet prompted a response from Maths professor Chowkidar Punit Shah. He said that people’s addiction to PUBG is having a negative effect.
He also attached an answer when a query is raised about the mobile game.

There have been several incidents where PUBG has allegedly played a part in killing a relationship.
An Indian man became addicted to the game and it led to arguments between him and his wife. He also neglected his responsibilities such as work.
Eventually, the man left his pregnant wife and child.
The addiction to PUBG in India is a prominent one and this viral video may be just one example.
