A viral video has surfaced online showing an Indian family confronting their 7-year-old son for spending money on the mobile game Free Fire.

The child was in tears as he was questioned about where the money went.

Despite his repeated denials, the family continued to accuse him of making unauthorised purchases.

According to the video’s description, the boy allegedly spent the family’s entire savings on Free Fire.

What started as an innocent gaming session quickly turned into a financial crisis, as the child unknowingly drained the funds.

The family’s frustration was evident in their confrontation, leaving social media users divided over who was truly at fault.

Some users blamed the parents, arguing that giving a smartphone to a young child was a mistake, suggesting that children should engage more in outdoor activities instead of being glued to screens.

Others pointed out that a seven-year-old lacks the maturity to manage finances.

Many also expressed concern over the way the child was treated in the video, criticising the family for publicly shaming him rather than addressing the situation calmly.

A user commented: “It’s not the child’s fault. Parents should take responsibility and set boundaries instead of scolding him like this.”

Another criticised: “Kid made a mistake, parents made a bigger one.

“Put his face on social media to tag him and embarrass him for life. Not cool at all.”

One wrote: “Imagine if this kid sees the comment section, it’s not good for that kid’s future. Imagine if you were in the place of that kid.

“Mistakes do happen but this mere video might haunt him 3-4 years later.”

Some viewers claimed that the amount spent was exaggerated in the video’s description.

While the video description suggested that the entire family savings were lost, others claimed that the actual amount was only Rs. 1,500.

However, some argued that the intensity of the family’s reaction suggested the loss might have been more significant.

The incident highlights the growing risks of unsupervised online gaming, where in-app purchases are just a tap away.

Many young children struggle to understand the concept of real money in digital transactions, often making purchases without realising the consequences.

The debate sparked discussions on financial literacy for children and the responsibility of parents in monitoring digital spending.

This incident serves as a cautionary tale about the potential dangers of mobile gaming and the importance of digital awareness.
