    Got an itchy throat - scratch your ear

    As much as we’d all love to be ‘on point’ when it comes to our health or beauty, life has a special tendency to get in the way.

    Whether it’s dealing with excessively dry skin or sudden breakouts – there is a life hack to deal with it immediately.

    DESIblitz looks at the best life hacks and tips and tricks for all your health and beauty needs.

    1. Use Lemon Juice for Sweat Stains

    Whether you’re running around or stuck in a heat wave, sweat patches will be a hassle for many.

    However have no fear, just use lemon juice on those stains before putting the clothes in the washing machine to get rid of that mess.

    2. Use Aloe Vera for Sunburn 

    Sunburn is an inevitable part of many people’s lives, however to counteract this painful reaction to the sun – simple freeze aloe vera juice in ice cube trays to treat the burn.

    3. Get Rid of an Itchy Throat 

    Got an itchy throat? Scratch your ear.

    This works by stimulating the nerves inside your ear and creates a reflect in your throat which causes a muscle spasm which stops that itchy sensation.

    4. Alleviate Anxiety with Controlled Breathing

    If you’re feeling anxious do some controlled breathing.

    Inhale for 4 seconds, then hold your breath for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds.

    5. Substitute Sugar with Cinnamon

    Having a sweet tooth is hard, especially when you crave sugar but don’t want the unhealthy consequences.

    Try substituting sugar with cinnamon in your tea, for a more healthy alternative.

    6. Stop Sneezing with your Tongue

    Sneezing is one of those unfortunate things that for many, can be both embarrassing and untimely.

    In order to hold off a sneeze, simply press your tongue on the roof your mouth or against the back of your teeth.

    7. Stop Acid Reflux in your Sleep

    Acid reflux is terrible, especially if you’re trying to sleep and you feel sickly and nauseous.

    Try sleeping on your left side, as sleeping on the right side of the body makes your stomach higher than the oesophagus which can let gravity cause and exacerbate acid reflux.

    8. Stop Pins and Needles with Exercise

    The best way to deal with a ‘dead arm’ or to put it simply, revive a numb arm.

    Just rock your head side to side, this simple exercise works by reducing tension in the neck area and will ease the pins and needles in your arm.

    Beauty Tips and Tricks

    1. Fix Lipstick with a Lighter

    Lipstick is great, until it breaks and you’re left wondering what to do with it.

    However this is where lighters come in handy. First use a lighter to heat the bottom of the broken piece. Then reattach it, hold it in place and leave to cool in the fridge.

    2. Use Coconut Oil as Makeup Remover

    Makeup remover tends to run out at the most inconvenient times, however if you have coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil lying around then you’re in luck.

    Just use either of these oils on a cotton pad and use it to remove your makeup, in some cases this works better than traditional makeup wipes.

    Coconut oil is also really great as a moisturiser for your body, and even for your hair. Or even try adding salt into it for the perfect DIY body scrub.

    3. Avoid Blisters with Deodorant

    Blisters are a painful side effect of walking with heels, to stop this experience from happening to yourself – rub clear deodorant on your heels to stop the friction.

    4. Use Banana Peels for Teeth Whitening

    Whiten your teeth with banana peels – yes, you read that right.

    Simply rub your teeth on the inside of a peel, for about a minute and let the residue sit for 10 minutes. Once you’re done, grab a dry toothbrush and start brushing.

    Do this a few times a week, and you’ll see results – this is a great alternative to using chemicals.

    5. Treat Pimples with Mouthwash

    Pimples can be both embarrassing and painful, simply dab some Listerine mouthwash or even use toothpaste to reduce that bad boy and watch it fade away.

    6. Treat Dark Marks with Sudocrem 

    Dark marks are always a hassle, and not every has bio oil on hand, but have no fear, you can use Sudocrem.

    It’s not just for nappy rashes, but an effective treatment for dark marks.

    7. Cut your Nails while Wet

    When cutting your nails, wet your finger tips and the nail clipper. This will stop any nails from flying around and make the nail cutting experience so much easier.

    8. Wash your Hair with Beer

    Last but not least, wash your hair with Beer – we know it sounds crazy. But you’d be surprised how soft it leaves it your hair.
