Five members of the same family have now been charged with the murder of Kiran Dhesi. This comes after two more people were arrested on June 21, 2019.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) stated that 25-year-old Gurvinder Deo and Talwinder Khun Khun, aged 22, had been arrested.

Both men were charged with accessory after the fact to murder, and indecently interfering with or offering an indignity to human remains.

The arrests come less than a month after three members of the same family were charged in relation to the murder.

Harjot Singh Deo, aged 21, is the prime suspect in the case and is accused of murdering Kiran in August 2017.

Kiran was a student at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, Canada, and had been in a relationship with Harjot.

She was 19 when her body was discovered inside a burning vehicle.

Harjot was arrested on May 10, 2019, at Vancouver International Airport. He was charged with second-degree murder.

His older sister Inderdeep Deo and their mother Majit Kaur Deo were later arrested and charged with assisting Harjot in his alleged bid to escape justice.

According to court documents, Majit is charged with assisting her son “for the purpose of enabling Harjot Singh Deo to escape”.

In addition to his previous charge, IHIT announced another charge against Harjot. He now faces a charge of interfering with human remains.

On Friday, June 21, 2019, two men were arrested and IHIT officers confirmed that they were part of the same family.

Corporal David Lee of IHIT said: “IHIT is able to confirm Gurvinder Deo is the brother of Harjot Deo and Talwinder Khun Khun is extended family.

“If there are still people involved, we are still pursuing the investigation and it is not over yet.”

He explained that it is too soon to tell if more charges will be laid in the case. However, he asked for anyone with information to come forward.

Cpl Lee added: “There are always people who know of what happened.

“They would have seen or heard something, or have been told by other friends or family or associates.”

“If any of those people are listening and watching, we encourage them to come forward.”

According to the police, Kiran Dhesi was never involved in any sort of gang activity.

Gurvinder is set to appear in court. While the five family members have been charged, none of the charges have yet been proven in court.

IHIT have not spoken about the suspected motive for Dhesi’s killing either. The investigation still remains active.
