"this anthem will surely rock all the fans to its beat"
The official anthem of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019, featuring Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan is out.
Fawad is the singer of the catchy and colourful track ‘Khel Deewano Ka’ for the fourth season.
Ali Zafar did sing the previous three anthems, including ‘Ab Khel Ke Dikha’ (2016) ‘Ab Khel Jamay Ga’, (2017) ‘Dil Se Jaan Laga De’ (2018).
Zafar was also the brand ambassador of the PSL.
The powerful Shuja Haider of Coke Studio fame is the music composer and writer of the track. Young Desi also features in the song, with a short rap.
Whilst some like the track, there are others who do not like it as much and are questioning where is Zafar.
The official Twitter handle of the PSL put out a tweet, announcing the arrival of the new song on January 18, 2019:
IT HAS ARRIVED! ???

There was much anticipation for the PSL 4 anthem, especially after the announcement of Fawad replacing Ali.
A day before the anthem release, the PSL went on Twitter to create some buzz, along with tweeting:
“The countdown begins for #KhelDeewanoKa. Are you as excited as we are? Stay tuned!”

At the HBL PSL anthem launch Sohaib Sheikh, Head of Marketing PCB issued a statement reading:
“With the first three HBL PSL anthems, Ali Zafar did a fantastic job in composing and singing some memorable tunes.
“Keeping up with the same quality, this year we are proud to announce that Fawad Khan has sung our new anthem with a surprise performance by Young Desi.
“Composed and produced by Shuja Haider, this anthem will surely rock all the fans to its beat, Khel Deewano Ka.”
Even though the song is up for debate, the video is really good. The video reflects a lot of chanting and celebrations.
The video also gives a glimpse of the six franchises and the PSL. Hence the direction of the video is good.
Fawad as always looks extremely dashing in the video. Fawad’s vocals bring a flavour of rock from his past.
The tagline ‘Khel Deewano Ka’ itself creates a lot of josh amongst the fans ahead of the tournament. Khan’s modelling and expressions compliment this factor.
Haider has to take a lot of the credit for producing a different rhythm to the previous three editions. The music will really pump fans during the opening ceremony and matches of the PSL.
The rap element from Young Desi gives a nice touch to the track. He sings the following lines penned by Haider:
Pa dawaan hal chal
Kar na tu gar bar
Gaind zara phenk ni
Mae shot aiwen mara
Jivain sahib-e-haiseea, Ninja turtle
The song has received mixed reactions, with a few criticising it also on social media:
One user comparing it with Ali Zafar’s song tweeted:
“I am sorry but no PSL anthem can ever compare to Phir seeti bajay gi, Stage sajay ga. Play one line from that song and you immediately get hit with PSL feels.”

The video, however, has had over 1 million YouTube views, with many supporting the song.
A Punjabi fan from India finds this track the best from all PSL anthems as he writes:
“The songs which had been sung by Ali Zafar had become boring and all were of same genre.
“This song has given us the much needed freshness and charm. It is the best of all.”
The modelesque presence of Fawad Khan along with Shuja’s music is very fast, energetic and groovy like the celebrations of Pakistan cricketer Hasan Ali.
Despite some not liking ‘Khel Deewano Ka,’ this is a song which will grow onto people as they listen to it two or three times.
Besides the anthem release, the PSL Twitter account also posted a tweet about the glittering star-studded affair for the opening ceremony:
Keeping up the tradition of the last three seasons, the #HBLPSL is set for another grand opening ceremony.
The Dubai International Stadium would play host to a star-studded evening on 14 February 2019.#KhelDeewanoKa
