"I shall not be known as forming part of the family."
Tensions between Aamir Khan’s brother Faissal Khan and his family have appeared to reach a breaking point.
In a disturbing new statement, Faissal has disowned his family after their reaction to his comments about Aamir allegedly locking him up.
In the statement, Faissal said:
“I, Faissal Khan, have from the date hereof severed all ties, familial as well as in estate, with my family members, the names whereof are more particularly described in the schedule hereunder written.
“All persons are required to take note that on and from the date hereof, I shall not be known as forming part of the family of my late father Tahir Husain or my mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, and/or any other family member more particularly described in the Schedule hereunder written.
“I shall not be entitled to any rights arising out of the estate of either of them or liable for any liability arising out of the estate of either of them.”
This controversy arose from Faissal alleging that Aamir Khan had locked him in a room and forced him to take medication.
Faissal also declared that his family had tried to make him believe he had schizophrenia.
In an interview, Faissal claimed: “They were saying I’ve got schizophrenia and I’m a mad person. I can harm society.
“Aamir had locked me inside the house for a year.
“My phone was taken, and I couldn’t go out. There were bodyguards outside my room. I was given medicine.”
In response, Aamir’s family stated that they were “distressed” and that all of Faissal’s care was “taken collectively as a family”.
The family also asserted that Faissal’s medication was administered “in consultation with multiple medical professionals” and was “based on love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological well-being”.
Faissal Khan tried his luck as an actor when he starred with his brother in Mela (2000).
The film was directed by Dharmesh Darshan and was produced with the purpose of launching Faissal’s acting career.
Mela was a box office failure and also starred Twinkle Khanna, Johnny Lever, and Navneet Nishan.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also made a cameo appearance in the film.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in the cameo role as Dahaa in Coolie (2025).
He has multiple projects in the works, such as Lahore 1947, a biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, and an untitled film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
