"this is not the first time he has misrepresented these events"
Aamir Khan’s family has issued a statement after Faisal Khan claimed he was mistreated by them.
In an interview, Faisal alleged his family locked him in a room and forced him to take medication against his will. He also accused them of making him believe he suffered from schizophrenia.
Faisal claimed: “They were saying I’ve got schizophrenia and I’m a mad person. I can harm society.”
He recalled feeling trapped inside his home, unable to go out or contact his father.
Faisal continued: “Aamir had locked me inside the house for a year.
“My phone was taken, I couldn’t go out. There were bodyguards outside my room. I was given medicine.”
The claims have drawn widespread attention online and prompted a detailed response from the Khan family.
In a statement signed by Reena, Junaid, Ira, Kiran, Imran Khan and others, the family said:
“We are distressed by Faisal’s hurtful and misleading portrayal of his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and his brother Aamir.
“As this is not the first time he has misrepresented these events, we feel it necessary to clarify our intentions, and reaffirm our solidarity as a family.”
They stressed that all decisions about Faisal’s treatment were taken with medical guidance.
“It is important to share that every choice regarding Faisal has been taken collectively as a family, in consultation with multiple medical professionals, and has been based on love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological well-being.
“For this reason, we have refrained from publicly discussing the details of a painful and difficult period for our family.”
Calling for restraint, the family added:
“We request the media for empathy, and to refrain from turning a private matter into salacious, inflammatory and hurtful gossip.”
Although the Khan family have hit out at Faisal’s allegations, this is not the first time that he has claimed to have been locked up in Aamir’s house.
In 2022, Faisal made the allegation whilst explaining why he rejected the offer to appear on Bigg Boss.
He said: “In Bigg Boss, everyone is pitted against each other, they fight, argue and then you’re also given tasks. They play with you mentally. I didn’t want to get trapped in that zone.
“They give you some money but by Allah’s grace I don’t need much money.
“So, I thought why should I get caged? Who likes being caged?
“Everyone likes a free life. That’s fun, you know.
“There’s no fun in being caged. I have been caged once in Aamir’s house. I don’t intend to get caged again. I want to live free and flow like water.”
